I'd say so. Greeny is very limited in his ability. I can see him dropping out of the team in the next couple of years if we start to improve. Teams are also starting to phase out the stay at home forward pocket which isn't good news for Greeny because he can't play any other role in the team.

doesn't that he looks like a little chicken nugget, he's to big

He's had a poor start to the year and suddenly he's a very limited player?
Things change very quickly around here.

Green was first and foremost a midfielder when we drafted him. He's looked good when given midfield minutes previously. I'd look at swapping him there to try and play him into some form.

Can't help but think of something Dermott Brereton said during pre _ season if Green ever wants to move into the midfield he needs to stop playing well as a small forward maybe Green was listening

Green a lot better player than Banfield for me. Banfield was Mr fumbles never grabbed the ball clean. Green has been poor this season but he has ability and as already stated he was drafted as a midfielder. Saying that Banfield was much better in sticking a tackle. Green needs to learn to tackle. Gets players high every time.

It always surprises me that small forwards are some how a teams issue when they are getting smashed. It just makes no sense to me. Small forwards live on opportunity.

because mcstay is borderline useless up forward and needs a lesson on work ethic...he should be pretty good down back given a lockdown role. Clarke would be worth a crack up forward as every other option has failed

I am not advocating this because we need Clarke at the back too much but I reckon he has pretty good footy instincts that are somewhat diminished by the role he plays in the team.

However if we had enough firepower down back I would actually try Clarke up forward. He gets to the contest, uses his body well and doesn't shy away. He has surprising short burst speed and he toils all day. Defensely as a forward he would be great. I reckon he is also smart enough to have learned a trick or two playing on a few big forwards as well.

B: McGrath Merrett Gardner
HB: Beams Clarke Rich
C: Mayes Beams Paparone
HF: Christensen Staker Bewick
FF: Green Harris McStay
F: Martin Redden Zorko

B: Adcock Aish Taylor
S: Robinson

I think that we need to play an extra man back full time for a couple of weeks so the guys get some confidence back, Paps to rotate back and Bewick to fold down on to the wing. When Rocky comes back for Bewick drops out and Redden should move to a HFF and play as a defensive flank and also remember that he is a really good mark for a midfielder.

Time to preach some patience both on the field and at the selection table.

Examples? I'm reading this as the role in which Josh Green was our leading goal kicker last year won't have a place in the game in the near future..

Changes? hmmm maybe 90% of the team..... isn't Rockliff a chance to play this week?

That would be either a mighty effort or a bit crazy to come back from that type of injury after three weeks??

Think there will be a few on the chopping block this week. Wouldn't surprise me to see McGuane come in for McStay to be honest. Think Goose has probably played his last game barring any further injuries to key backs too.

Eddie Betts and Lindsay Thomas spending time in the midfield this year. The Hawks rotate their entire team through the backline as well.

In: Basic hand and foot skills

We need Rocky and Hanley bad. There is a reason these boys and Beams are able to chalk up 35+ with our mids. The divide between the top and bottom mids is horrifyingly stark: our best mids have to do ****ing everything with little support. There's never any consistent back up. Zorks steps up and Redden drops completely off. Rich has been superb but our 2nd stringers have looked ****ing awful and it's quite telling that instead of stepping up they've almost completed receded.

Merrett being sorely missed, particularly with his recent form in defense.

If Rockliff were to come back (seriously doubt he could or should), he should play as a forward. He's a very good forward and the body might not cop what it would in the middle.
The other change will be for me, from mid-strength to heavies.:drunk:

It's a little disappointing that we have a somewhat winnable game at a time when we are grossly under strength. Other than Leuenberger, Merrett and maybe Robertson I'm not sure who else should be brought in. Maguire is surely done, he is a liability
