Okay, time to move on. There's always next week, yadda-yadda, etc-etc.

Selection largely depends on whether or not Fletch gets done.

OUT -
Fletcher, Campo, MJ, Rioli, Bolton

IN -
Lee, Longergan, Ryder, Dyson, Peverill

I was an advocate for letting Dyson have an extended spell at Bendigo to get his confidence up. I've changed my mind, he had 30 odd on the weekend. Let him run around in the midfield in the big time. Plus Marcuz will ban me from this board if I don't say something positive about the kid soon.

Lee has been pretty solid in his return, he was in our best last week playing on Kennedy. Let's see what he's got.

MJ has a crack, so does Sammy. Lets see if Sammy can give us something MJ can't at the moment.

Play Ryder and let him ruck when Hille rests and leave Laycock at FF all day. We looked our best when he was down there.

Pev for Bolton. Bolt's gives us nothing, Pev is battling but if we are going to lose 5 senior players we are going to need some experience in the middle. I don't think Rioli's knee will allow him to play.

Would bring Slattery in, but he's been offered a week. I don't know if he'll get off the charge.

If Fletcher does play, sorry Solly, I love ya, I thought you had turned things around in the first quarter on Saturday night, but have a spell. But if Fletch doesn't play, we will need him to do a job.

Carlton save their best for us, but we gave them a touch up last time around with a very young side.

Leave Laycock at FF, let Winderlich, Dyson and Longergan run and let's see if we can't play some free flowing footy. Because when we do that we look the goods.

I think Longergan could do something similar to what Andrew Welsh did in 2002. Welsh came into the side when we were battling and his ability to step straight into senior footy, but his head over the footy and put his body on the line gave the playing group a lift. Bit similar to what Angus did against West Coast last season.

I can see Sam coming in and making an instant impact, and setting an example.

In : Dyson, Lee, Ryder
Out : Rioli, Campo, Bolton

Dyson gives us some run. He needs to be played for 4 weeks in the seniors. He belongs at AFL level. Lee is a back up for the Carlton tall forwards if one of them gets on top. I like the idea of leaving Laycock at full forward and having Ryder and Hille play ruck.

Rioli and Campo out due to injury. Boltons disposal is just too poor.

Any other team this week I'd drop Solomon but he seems a good match up for Fisher.
Fletcher to Fevola, Bradley to Waite, Solomon to Fisher

There is no reason why we should lose this game. Carltons on ballers and rucks are rubbish and we should be getting first use of the ball nearly every time..

Carlton will be employing the uber flood so its going to be an ugly game. Therefore pin point disposal is a must.

Bolton would stay in the team to play on Kouta!

We thought Bolts would play in Round 1 and go to Goodes. He didn't and NLM got the job.

Might be a good opportunity for Kepler to follow someone around in the middle. Could be a good learning curve.

Thats true Longy! I was just stuck trying to think of someone to play on Kouta!

for me, if Fletcher survives

in: Dyson, Lee, Ryder, Lonergan/Dempsey

out: Bolton, Rioli, Campo, Solomon

I still say chuck MJ in the sqaure next to Laycock, a couple of goals might spark him. I know he's been down, and I've dropped Solly, I just think MJ is too good to do down still, espacially, IMO, he showed a bit last weekend.

I'm all for having NLM on Kouta, the way he's been playing he could eat him up.

Jason Johnson, has he returned to form? Is he still getting his normal game time of around 80% like he did last year or is he getting on a bit and Jobe Watson has taken some of his time away?

Jason had 31 on the weekend. Didn't use the ball brilliantly, but he never has.
He's getting there.
Was he out of form before or injured?

Both I guess.
Jason's game is all about running, getting to repeated contests and using his body in close. He was coming back from injury and had a limited pre-season and really battled for match fitness.

So he was struggling for form because his fitness dictated he couldn't play his type of game.

But as his fitness is getting better, his form is getting better as well.

Hmmmm, good to see.

By the way, you guys will thrash Carlton ;)

Changes that I think will happen. I'd like to see some more changes, but they're unlikely given the ins and outs so far this season.

Out: Campo, Rioli (rest), Bolton
In: Dyson, pev, Reynolds (not sure about this guy, but about time he got a chance).

I can't see Solomon or MJ being dropped by Sheedy. Even though one of them should be.

So Cassius has Longy's advice helped you decide whether or not to add him to you super coach or dream teams?

Good to hear about Fletch. For me:
In: Dyson, Dempsey
Out: Campo, Rioli

Giving Solomon one more week as I still think we need him as insurance as a key defender. However I think my preseason prediction of him and Lloyd both being in the top 5 of Essendons B & F is not looking good....

depends on whether rioli is being rested, proably doesnt deserve to be dropped provided the amount of time on the ground and his use of the ball was perfect as usual.

In: Dempsey, Johns
Out: Campo(inj), Solomon

Great news about Fletch, you just made my day better Longy.

Outs:

Bolton - do we actually need to tag Kouta ? He's still a decent player but i'd rather we put someone on him who will play their own game and expose him going the other way.

Campo - injured.

Rioli - i'd rest him this week, will be better suited to the smaller ground the week after.

Solomon - do i need to bother ?

Ins:

Dyson - we desperately need quality disposal in the midfield - obvious replacement for Campo too.

Nash - we need to find out about this bloke soon enough. Has quality disposal, including very good depth on his kicking, every time i've seen him so he could potentially improve us.

Lee - why not ?

Ryder - to give us flexibility with the big blokes, and apparently he was in the best in the 2's so it would be good to reward that.

I'd be happy with those changes, we need guys like Dyson and Nash to consolidate their spots in the senior side as their strengths are the senior sides current weaknesses(run and skill).

Can't argue with those changes but I'd really like to see Lonergan (or ever Firman) in there. I really think he'll make an impact.

I was going to put Lonergan ahead of Ryder but then i just thought that'll only mean one, two or three of Dyson, Nash, Winderlich and himself will spend far too long on the bench to do them any good.

Yeah you're probably right. I just really like Sammy.
He's got something.
