That's crap. So you're expecting Butch to come in and be the dead eye dick that Schulz is? Even Schulz has been inaccurate this year. But it is ok that Westhoff misses from 35 directly in front or that Robbie Gray has been been looking to dish off rather than kick it lately. Monfries, Wingard and S Gray have kicked sweet FA between them the past month but no Butch has to kick 10 goals straight or he is useless .. oh puhleez:eek:

Agree to an extent but would argue that both Gray and Westhoff have a few more dimensions to their game and flexibility than Butch. Oh..and don't start on the structure argument again! ;)

Monfries in.... young or newton out

Carlile in for Dom

Assuming Trengove still not available, will wait for the SANFL for the second tall (195 cm plus) forward (for Stewart, O'shea or Broadbent) to help out in the forward line while Westhoff is doing everything but carrying the drinks. On that point, the SANFL forwards are doing quite well given the midfield is not performing (getting absolutely destroyed in the ruck, hitouts and clearances). So I don't know what Kenny wants if the ball is not coming in to them. I beleive Butch and Shaw will do better in the AFL team right now.

It is not so much structure as a lack of height which had killed us. Happened last year when Trengove was injured. We keep on doiung the same thing expecting a different outcome. Definition of insanity. Otherwise, you are saying that 22 players that are 180 cm and very good will beat a standard structured team (mix of talls, mediums and smalls)and guess what, won't happen.

Young should not be dropped and should not be made sub.

He was one of our shining lights in that deplorable performance by our team last week.

Possibly wants a very strong defensive effort for four quarters week in and out - something that is hard to judge from public stats but the coaching staff would know about

OUT: O'Shea (Ommited), Cassisi, Young

IN: Bobby, Newton (this is his chance to take over the mantle from Dom), Shaw or Butcher, (prefer the later..)

EFA, based on the next opponent.....

Let's not judge Hinkley too early. The guy took us from being a rabble to one of the best with a great free flowing style. We have things we need to work on but that will come with time. We are the third youngest list. Contrast our older players vs say Geelong's, Hawthorn's or Sydney's and you can see they are totally different. They are the stand up in a tight moment sort, ours aren't. That's ok, it will come, just a point of difference.

Also, whilst I agree a third tall is a great idea, it is obvious that Hinkley backed his midfield in to get the job done as they had the past 10+ games. He backed the run and carry of our players and extra midfield depth a small forward can give. Unfortunately it coincided with a horrible run of form from key players and a loss of confidence. Had our midfield performed we would only have lost against Sydney and we would be singing his praises. Sadly it didn't.

Give him time to work his magic again.

Any one who starts to knock Kenny's decisions or even question needs their head read......... what I read at the moment regarding not playing another tall is that he no confidence in the stocks we have.....especially at the pointy end of the season which is upon us....

Carlile for Hombsch/O'shea (either one likely to come out tbh)
Logan for Cassisi (Small for small, and on top of that Logan's been in great form anyway)]
Monfries for Newton (It's crap I know but it'll happen)
Young to sub.

Backs

Pittard Carlile Impey
Jonas Hombsch Broadbent

Mids
Lobbe Boak Wines
White Ebert Polec

Forwards
Monfries Westhoff Gray
Stewart Schulz Wingard

Int:
Hartlett Cornes Logan Young(sub)

Monfries was also suffering against Essendon from having to play a target role. He was effectively our lead up forward because we didn't have any talls, especially when Westhoff went back. Enormous Brett Ebert flashbacks.

Ditto Robbie Gray. And ditto Travis Boak in the Melbourne game.

Out: cassisi, possibly stewart
In: carlile, monfries?? maybe 1 game in sanfl and see how he goes first.
young as sub newton for full game
Hope the rest of the boys are well rested for next game.

If Gus has been playing with injury would explain his form and if he's recovered he comes straight back.

He is already in the side, how could you miss those boots.

In - Monfries, Carlile, Logan, Butcher (Have a feeling he will get 6+ goals in the SANFL this week and demand a spot)
Out - O'Shea, Cassisi, Young, Stewart

Would love Newton to stay in, thought he was very impressive when he came on.

Drawing names from a hat?
Not at all let me expand my mind farts.
Carlilse comes back in definitely. The player that replaced him when he was injured was OShea. I believe that Oshea deserves to keep his spot and probably has better defensive instinct then Pittard. Polec's output has been really down in the last few weeks and his defensive stuff is really dissapointing. so for me he gets dropped back to the Maggies to get form confidence back and Pittard can be the line breaker and play more up forward. Pittard can take the game on and deliver well and finish well most of the time.

Moore I think can play the run with role and is a good clearance player that I think we need so he comes in for Cassisi over Logan. I think that when fit Moore is in our best 22 and has long been groomed for Doms spot and has a big upside.

Monfries when fit and up and about is definetely in our best 22. His defensive pressure up forward is really important to our small forward line and gives more opportunity to Wingard and Gray by keeping he ball in the forward lie longer.(I think this is the biggest issue with Wingrd by the way that he is not sticking tackles in the forward fidty that he was early). I dont think that we swap him for Stewart. Stewart is as close as we are going to get to a third tall forward this year so he has to stay for the structure and should be given games to settle. So who goes out? my thought is Newton or Young. I just think that Newton has more upside than Young and deserves a chance. Young has been great in patches and does some good stuff but given a full game just does not do enough. Newton was good in a quarter and should be given a chance for a full game.
White was poor and may just need a game as a sub to explode and become the 4th quarter match winner.

Just an opinion though as every post on the board.

.... Monfries when fit and up and about is definetely (sic) in our best 22 .....
Forget up and about it's fitness that counts and Monfries isn't close to fit. Against Essendon he was consistently outrun. Gus needs to come back through the Maggies.
BTW be warned Eddie Dingle is on the hunt for people who are misspelling 'definitely' but you might scrape by.

Young is fast, skilful, strong and we'd be crazy structurally to drop him. And while I'm particularly disagreeing with your suggestion Young goes out for Monfries I'll add Newton would be unlucky too.

O'Shea will definitely go out for Carlile. He was average at best last week, especially his disposal. He obviously shanked alot of kicks outright, but it's more so his number of "panic" kicks forward to nothing that will see Ken drop him. Lack of composure and choosing/waiting for an appropriate target is a massive problem and is why he hasn't been in the team much this year. Was incidentally why Hombsch was dropped early in 2013. His defence was pretty good but time and time again, we'd worked hard to win the ball and get it out to space only for him to jam it on the boot with a long kick forward (just kick it!) and turn it straight back over. O'Shea did this plenty last weekend. On top of that, Ken seems to often drop the replacement once the fit first 22 player comes back and talked about how our backline was "too tall" before Carlile and Trengrove went down. O'Shea out.

I'm guessing Logan or Monfries will be back in for Cassisi.

I called it when Butcher was dropped after the NM game that it'd be the ruin of him and I can't see Ken picking him now unless he does a massive backflip in his thinking. There's some glimmer of hope in him making the emergencies last week I suppose but he'd need to play some game Saturday and then some luck with Ken's stubbornness to make it. If so, will be Stewart/Newton out I imagine.

if pittard didn't take the game on like he does...I'd replace him with oshea in our starting 22 (loved his work last week)

Yeah I liked O'Shea's game (bar that handball in the 4th quarter) when we were well on top early in the match it was Cam's intercepts & coast to coast work that helped put the score on the board.

he reminds me off that bloke in the hawthorn side that played against adelaide the other week (the tall quick one running out of defence) Can't catch his name though

"Too tall" is just political speak for "too slow and stagnant". O'Shea will stay in because he makes things happen like Pittard does. Against Collingwood, Carlile will fill Trengove's spot as a CHB, shifting Hombsch to FB, Jonas as the third 'tall', Impey the small defender and Pittard and O'Shea pushing up from defense. Broadbent to rotate off the bench to replace either Pittard or O'Shea, but also to give a viable +1 option who can actually run forward but can also help out in the midfield if required.

So Carlile will come in for Cassisi. Stewart out for Monfries. Simples. Newton deserves a full game to show us what he can do.

The week after, Newts will make way for Trengove unless someone else has a stinker.
