Trengove - Jenkins
Carlile - Walker
Impey - betts

Jonas - ?? McGovern?

To me is a possible ins are

Young, Toump, Amon and Dougal

In order of preference

Young maybe has had a few chances? We are expecting something different than we have seen already? If it's line ball maybe Jimmy?

just heard tex walker is a moon boot but should play. whats his injury?

Kicked half the turf out with his last quarter shocker on goal.

Most weeks I'd say Toump for White, but this week I'm thinking maybe Aaron Young. A) We got belted in the clearances today, and Young is one of the better clearance winners on our list, and b) an away showdown is a hell of a pressure cooker environment in which to debut a kid like Toumpas with documented confidence issues.

Play Young in White's spot against the Crows, and unless Youngy makes himself undroppable bring Toump in for a debut easy kill against Essendon.
Exactly this... Young comes in simply because how dire we were in the clearances, I'm hoping it was just a rusty round 1 "event" but if they struggle like that again Young is much better inclusion than Toump.

I'm no psychologist, but mollycoddling Toumpas is surely not going to help his confidence. Ken seems more like the baptism of fire kind of guy.

i still have my doubts on playing Carlile, id play him next week because of jenkins but i think he is a week to week proposition depending on the match ups, i wouldnt have played him today, i think a decision has to be made on weather you play Carilile or Jonas because we are gonna get burnt against similar teams this year who play with a smaller forward line

I wasn't at the Norwood game but my recollection from reports is Toumpas did nothing of note, on top of a lacklustre NAB Challenge. We don't need like for like for White. Howard is due, Palmer slightly back. Paul Stewart, Aaron Young not crazy options.

The Saints won a lot of clearances with a third man up, we didn't use that tactic at all today, I suspect it will be one of the ins this week.
I probably prefer the idea of the Crows playing Eddie up the ground.
Jacobs will be very keen to bounce back (not that he was bad but TG got plenty of kudos) and towel up Lobbe. Lobbe will need to at least negate Jacobs.
The replacement for White is an interesting one. Young wouldn't be a bad choice but he a very different player to White and if we're looking for outside run you'd think Jimmy or Karl would be in line for a call up. That call will come down to match ups, Crouch possibly suspended may influence it.
I couldn't help think how Krak would have been great today but that's not going to happen.
We'll need to play a lot better than today, the skill errors for 2.5 quarters was really really bad, as was our defence zone which I thought was too high.
What I did like was the way Jay was able to roam around the forward line without the close attention he normally gets and there did seem to be some cohesion between him and Charlie.

Based on the Norwood game, only Howard has done enough to be considered for a spot in the AFL side.

Yeah. However I'm trying to pretend I'm too deeply footy brainy than to just go Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard, Howard.
Hope I get away with it.

Young in for mine. Carlile to ******* fat camp.

My favourite bit was when Dix kicked his first goal and every player except Carlile went up to hug him. If he tried to run there he probably wouldn't have gotten there till full time.

Seriously though - I forgot he didn't play the latter half of the season and I think I was a tad too harsh on him in terms of expectations today. I don't know if I believe in chucking in players that need to get used to the rigours of AFL into the SANFL, but yeah.

His whole point was that the crows have a strong ball winning brigade , and showdowns are often slogs. Therefore he made the point an inside ball winner with form in these type of games is maybe a better choice then an untested outside player when our outside game will depend on winning it and we are already faster then them anyway.

Oh, I understand the reasoning, but it's reactionary mentality. We have Boak, R.Gray, Wines, S.Gray and Ah Chee that are meant to be winning clearances in the side already. Why would adding Young suddenly make our clearances better? Why play into Adelaide's hands and concede that it will be a slog when we can burn them on the outside with good kicks that they don't have? Our problem was that it was too easy for the Saints to get the clearance away, not just that we couldn't win it - Armitage had 14 clearances. Aaron Young isn't going to help with that, because he has zero defensive nous.

I'm not against Young coming in for White, but not as a midfielder. He has attributes, but there's more to being a midfielder than just winning clearances.
