Good to see the same old shit on here, it's like a Freo fan banging on about drugs as soon as someone mentions West Coast.

Hutch directly contributed to at least two goals tonight through good kicks to our forwards, took a great mark under pressure to stop a chance for Port to goal, and won a great clearance in the centre under pressure against two opposition mids and everyone wants him dropped.
Meanwhile Redden had 66% clangers and only "has a couple of good handballs" and everyone leaves him in the side. The hatred on here for him is ridiculous. If anyone should be dropped its Redden for Duggan. I don't think they'll drop the two rucks either but they might try it seeing some we're at home. If that's the case bring in Karps.

Yea i thought Hutch was hard at the footy.
Sam Butler is the one that should make way for another runner.

With Bevo as coach nobody can be sure re his selections.

Fact. We will need to replace Dunkley and Stringer
Fact. Dickson (our 2016 leading goal kicker) kicked 4 in vfl yesterday in 2nd game back.
Opinion. He is likely to be recalled.
Fact. Wallis has had 2x 30+ possies vfl games returning from injury
Opinion. He will be seriously considered
Fact. Redpath kicked 6 in his first game back in vfl.
Opinion. Returning from ACL injury will need more than one game. But. Refer Bevo comment.
Fact. Boyd did not ruck 1st qtr. 17-0 hit outs, but we won the clearances. Boyd rucked most of 2nd-4th quarters and did very well.
Opinion. Bevo not a great fan of ruckman. Campbell close to selection but under injury cloud and was not picked. Spudded it up in VFL. No Dunkley but refer Bevo comment considering his likely recall.
Fact. Crameri's two return games have been limited minutes and ordinary
Opinion. Won't be considered. But...Refer Bevo comment.
Fact. Have a few young guns knocking on the door.
Opinion. Webb and Dale may be considered.

So you guys now know as much as we do. Carry on with your selections. Hope this helps.

The only problem with Giles he is not agile and is also cumbersome and slow, however he is the only true ruckman we have left that is fit to play. Going in with Vardy as the sole ruck against Hawthorn left a gaping hole and we know how that turned out! Both Vardy and McInnes are forwards/rucks so not sure going in with just one of them would be the answer. Giles is still decent and gives his all.
Well said.

Stringer out helps, he kicks red time goals as much as we like to give them up.
Dunkley (back up ruck #2 also to miss)
Boyd/Dunkley/Jong ruck trio. :|
(Jong can jump, is strong over head. He's their budget version of Yeo)

Redpath kicked 7 in the VFL so at a guess they'll go,
Out. Stringer/Dunkley
In. Redpath/Wallis

I'd be happy with Vardy/McInnes ruck combo. Giles "rest"
Vardy had 12 hit outs last night Giles had 18. So McInnes for Vardy or stick with the rucks we have. One thing we are certainly missing is a ruck who can take a mark. Why is this? Even NN struggles.

Sinclair used to take grabs on the wings ... :'(

Poor old Giles has to go. He was a liability today. I actually quite like him, but he's worse than playing one man down.

Giles battled and struggled at times against one of the most athletic rucks in the comp, NicNat finds Ryder hard to play against.

I agree against the Dogs we don't need two rucks as they are also very short on ruck depth , when I saw Jong in the ruck I had to pinch myself.

We most certainly need more run and agility v Dogs. I'd even play McGovern as the second ruck because against Jong / Dunckley he would dominate and there is no way and I repeat NO WAY will the Dogs kick long into our back half for Barrass and McGovern to pick them off. They simply are not that stupid and their #1 game plan is not to do that. They will run at us and weave through our lumbering midfield and defence if we are silly enough to play one.

For the reason above the calls to drop Redden really astound me. He's playing decent footy in close.

I would drop Giles, Barrass and Mutimer and bring in Duggan, Schofield and Karpany.

Schofield is a little more agile than Barrass and he will need his experience reading the dogs.

Mutimer is improving but is still a rookie and fresh legs against the Dogs is a must.

Karpany is in because he's quick and agile and is reasonably good defensively. If Mutimer is 100% he may keep Karps out.

Would love Cole and Nelson to be fit and in form for this game.

Fact. You brought in a whole heap of talent against us in that final last year and flogged us.
Opinion. Please don't bring them back. Give them another week. ;)

Out: Giles, Hutchings
In: Duggan, Karpany

Also wouldn't be against bringing in Cole for Butler, we could do with some of the run out of defence that Nelson has provided this year, but obviously he is injured, but I think Cole has a similar style and can break lines and get the balling going forward. While Butler was solid, his age is beginning to show and he tended to kill momentum a bit when he got the ball, and we need as much leg speed/quick ball movement against the dogs as we can. Probably won't happen, but I hope Simmo considers it.

Our defence of Yeo, Nelson (when fit), Wellingham, Barras, McGovern are awesome Nelson will replace Butler when he gets back

I agree, but with the dogs likely playing boyd in the ruck for majority of the game against us, their forward line will be for the most part small and quick and we're already probably going in too tall in defense with Gov and Barrass, so a bit of extra speed in the backline would help.

Why would you drop Mutimer and bring in Karpany. Is his form better than Mutimer's??

Run and run and run

It's what killed us in the EF and what we need to counter on Friday if we are to win

Would have loved Watson to be available for this game

It wasn't only that that lost us the EF last year. Our guys played in cruise control - think the players thought because it was at PS that it was a foregone conclusion that they would win. They forgot to turn up to play!

McInnes for Giles improves mobility and versatility.

Duggan for Hutchings improves skills.

Would consider playing Karpany too.
