The issue I see with Jetta is that he appears to be playing out of position, especially against the saints. I suspect he was asked to pick up Mastens role.

Where he excelled was the run off the back of the square to assist the midfield at CBD's and try and break the lines.

I think this is the Darling-less scenario. Think Ah Chee stays so long as there a forward spot available. There may not be once Ryan comes in.

FB: Sheppard Barrass Cole
HB: Hurn McGovern Duggan
C: * Redden Gaff
HF: Rioli Waterman Cripps
FF: LeCras Kennedy Lycett

R: Naitanui Yeo Shuey

I:
  • Jetta/Nelson for last def spot. Think they stick with Jetta for now.
  • *4 last spots: Masten and Ryan if fit (Ryan may come back through the WAFL). Sheed/Hutchings/Ah Chee/Brander/Petrucelle/Mallen to fill last 2 spots.

His kicking into F50 is still good. I reckon we should move him away from defence and make him a designated kicker from the wing/HF.

He gets lazy when playing up the ground. Somewhat better when behind the ball.

Just play him in the WAFL if his work rate isnt up to standards.

Putting your neck on the line with those bold predictions mate.

We've been playing roughly the same team for a while now, and theres nothing wrong with this because obviously its a winning formula, but just thinking that maybe its time to put a bit more time in some of the other youngsters. I don't really follow the WAFL form or our ongoing injury list too much but we still haven't given Oscar Allen, Mat Allen, Ainsworth, Murtimer Pertrol and Brander too much of a chance to play seniors. Id hate to get to the end of the season and they still haven't been given a crack because its the last 4 weeks when i think we should be playing our strongest team every week.

Against Sydney I'd like to see Petrol/Ainsworth come in, maybe at the expense of Nelson, and Waterman get a rest for Brander. I think Waterman will struggle to maintain his tank and work rate throughout the season as most first year players do. He is beginning to show some signs of fatigue on the weekend. The bye and Darlings injury may have come at the perfect time for him though.

Keep faith in Achee for another week but he could also be on the chopping block thanks to Shuey if he doesnt pull his finger out.

Give Ryan a week or two in the WAFL to build up his confidence/fitness again.

Surely we have to pick the team that gives us the best chance of winning an 8-point game in Sydney. Youth can wait its turn if they're not in our best available side. I'd rather go there and win than experiment and lose.

I didn’t mind Ah Chee. X factor, Great hands plus raging bull. Needs more midfield time. I would preferred him over Sheed in the middle last weekend.

His second efforts are questionable. There were 3-4 occasions on the weekend where he dropped the mark or went to contest and just stopped after his first effort.

Considering what we got out of Redden and Jetta in their first years here and his age I think he has done enough to think he has a role to play going forward.

Has he excelled anywhere this year? We've been flying but he hasn't done shit.

Call me crazy but I don't reckon we'll bring in a tall to replace Darling. I reckon we'll lean on Jakey Waterman to step up and then go with a smaller setup. Ah Chee plays as the third tall.

In: Shuey, Masten
Out: Jetta/Nelson, Darling :(

We have a pretty set structure which revolves around third mobile talls up forward. Think we need to stick with it.

So what did we do when JK was out?

We don't have to pick a tall forward if that's not our best side.

Brander is very impressive and think he should be given a go if Darling doesn’t get up.

That one handed pick up at pace today illustrated he’s very good below his knees for his size, just like Kennedy

Would Masten be ready for a recall - didn't he do his hammy when Its normally a minimum of 3 weeks out?

Wouldn’t mind playing brander if we don’t mind going a bit tall but we could just play Lycett more and forward.

Sheppard barrass Cole
Hurn Gov Duggan
Cripps Yeo Gaff
Lecras waterman Rioli
Ryan Kennedy Lycett

NN shuey redden

Int: hutch ah Chee Nelson Sheed

Going to put that last quarter behind me.

Apart from when Buddy ripped us a new one in Round 1, we seem to play better against the good teams this year and do "just enough" against the crappy teams. Week off and if we don't see a team with something to prove vs Sydney, then I'll start to worry.

EDIT

IN: Ryan, Shuey
OUT: Darling, Jetta
