This is why I hate these discussions. We win a few games and all of a sudden we’re in the same discussion as Geelong and Richmond... Give me a spell time is not a precursor to success!

This is on you Jafo hah.
Never said we were as good as those sides. That was your inference. My point was even great sides like Geelong took years to realise their full potential. So let’s be patient and enjoy our moderate success to this point.

I didn’t say you did! My exact words were:

I said you put us in the same discussion with them which you have 100% done by bringing those clubs into the mix. Literally the dumbest discussion I’ve been involved in all year.

Lol I won’t continue with someone getting so emotional and abusive. Have a great day.

Seriously mate the least you could do is acknowledge you stuffed up it’s no big deal! Also clarification around how labeling a discussion dumb is abusive would be great? Touchy much!

Moore must play really.
Last week we looked undersized in defence- fortunately we weren't completely carved.

We need that balance again.

It then gives us options to swing he and Mihocek if need be.

Rest Moore 1 more week....

this isn't an elimination final! Moore plays and reinjures himself and he'll be gone for another 4-6 weeks and seriously undercooked for finals.

If they want the extra tall they should've brought McLarty or even Magden onto the extended bench...bring either in down back for 1 game.

Yes they are inexperienced down back, but let's face it, so is Moore at this point.

Not the right thread for it and I feel like I’m on a hiding to nothing although I’m happy to oblige. Buckley is coaching better than ever, but we haven’t achieved anything yet and this is the standard I knew the list was capable of so I’m in a bit of a state of “go on”.

I’m happy we’ve turned the ship around, I want to question why it took so long and I’m still not convinced it’s not flash in the pan on the basis of a good draw (going back to October 2017 I was confident we would make the 8 if we made it past round 8 at 4-4) or sustainable moving forward.

If I had to address one point about his coaching in 2018 he’s made it fun. The players look like they’re having fun and it’s fun to go to the footy again. The wins have flowed from there, IMO, on the back of improved development, leadership and chemistry (which was severely underrated pre-2018). The previous few years were akin to having teeth pulled with backwards, sideways and basically totally ineffectual ball movement. The losses would have been infinitely easier to swallow if we’d have been remotely watchable or it seemed like we were building towards something/ anything.

The most important question is would I re-contract him beyond 2019? And the answer is no not yet. I think we would be irresponsible to do so until we work our way into next season. Do I think that the “Lazorous” type story is the prototype? Also no because Buckley would not have survived past 2016 if it weren’t for McGuire. Bolton could be a story of redemption, but I get a distinct Dennis Pagan vibe about him where he’s going to cop all the shit and then someone else will come in to finish off.

I’m pretty sure that wasn’t what you were expecting and this will go down like a lead balloon, but I’m quite confident if we’d made the call post 2016 we’d be no worse off than we currently sit. They decided to go with Gubby instead which set us back further, IMO. Que sera sera.
Always liked your input Scodog

Bahaha no. I’m not thinking premierships by a long stretch.

I know wet have probably lost more Premierships than we have won.

I still cringe to the thought of the Lions.

Agree.

Having listened to Buck's presser. I really can't see Moore playing this week. The comment about looking at medium term rather than short term was especially pointed - to me anyway.

Also, is it just me or does the nature of the comments about Moore over the last few weeks remind anyone of how Bucks spoke about Clokey towards the end? Maybe reading too much into it.

Yer...the more Bucks speaks about Moore...the more I’m leaning towards he doesn’t play.
Obviously Bucks not convinced as yet, whether Moore improves the side immediately (this weekend).
Oxley still a chance...

Does anyone think that maybe the reason Moore and Elliott have been out so long since their respective injuries might be that the club wanted to get a mini-preseason in to them before playing again, rather than just abnormally long recoveries? If that’s the case, I’d be more comfortable with Moore coming in this week.
