It’s also structural, I feel like we need an extra mid because we went in one short and made up for it by pushing Cripps to a wing and Ah Chee and Jones taking the odd rotation.

And if we do bring in a mid, it’s probably between O’Neill, who’s on the nose for some reason, and Ledwards who must be close if he was taken over to Melbourne.

I do like that we expose our young players to an interstate game when they're emergency. Makes it less of a shock to the system when they're a real chance at getting a call up. But on the flip side I think it probably means leaving Xon in the magoos to work on his game means he is probably closer to getting a call up, in a roundabout way.

None of my comments are an indictment on Ledwards, by the way. Just don't think I've read or heard anything to suggest this week is the week.

Spot on with Nelson. Since his under 18 days, he has had well above average kicking skills. That is why in 2019 the club starting taking the WAFL kick ins and why he has advanced to being the alternative option at the AFL level.

He has decent speed, has built his tank to a good level and generally makes good decisions. Plus he has a little more mongrel that anyone else in the backline.

I sense he got the reputation for poor kicking in his early couple of years when he ran out of puff and shanked a couple. But there again so did Sheed until he developed a better endurance base. And Duggan was often caught holding the ball (until he picked up the pace of the game).

So we can hold on to aspects of their play from early games and stay biased or watch what they have done in development.

Our best 7 backline when all fully fit right now are:
FB: Hurn Barrass Sheppard
HB: Rotham Gov Nelson
with Cole and Witherden fighting it out for the 7th
Bang on.
Every year Jacko has grown on me like a fungus, to the point where I am scratching around nervously like the Richmond PR team every Sunday morning...

Seriously though; he's in our best 22 and is our best midfield tagging option in 2021.

Man, we're really not letting that call go after 3 years passed and TK eventually did come to us, huh?
Dwayne Russell is over the top but he does sometimes nail memorable lines (even if it is mainly because they are a bit silly). That game also gave us : "Does Geelong have a safe word?"

Although it feels like we're a mid short, I have enjoyed seeing players like Duggan get a run through there, and more recently Jones in centre bounces. Reminds me of when we used to have Rioli or Lecras roll through the midfield to help out the tired mids.

Give Jones more time in there, even Cole to get him involved more, he's pretty clean and aggressive over the ground ball.

Why would we? It's timeless and has so many applications.

Unless McGovern and Barrass are both available this week, I'd be keeping Oscar down back. Adelaide played a very tall forward line against Port; Walker/Himmelberg/Thilthorpe/Fogarty are all 193-200cm. Might also see O'Brien try to emulate what Grundy did to Nicnat a few weeks ago.

What that means is if Kennedy doesn't get up our forwardline is going to look on small side, which would certainly be something different.

Feel like they'll drop a tall if we don't get both TB and Gov back. Himmelburg seemed to be in to nullify allir.

On the other end they have Jordan Butts as a tall defender and no one else

Do you get anyone back next week from injury?
“I’m not sure. I think there’ll be a few tests. (Jeremy) McGovern, (Tom) Barrass, Liam Ryan, maybe Hutchings, Shannon Hurn, they’ll all be around the mark

In: Barrass, Hurn
Out: Kennedy (managed), Cole

Hurn, Barrass, Sheppard
Witherden, Edwards, Rotham

Gaff, Sheed, Nelson

Cripps, Allen, Ah Chee
Petruccelle, Darling, Jones

Waterman, Langdon, Brander, Williams

Sub: Cole
Gee that's brave, going in without rucks and rovers. But we should still get it done.
