I'm quite worried that Simmo will be prioritizing the back line. To the point where there wont be a shake up and we will see the same line up in the guts every week. Anyone feeling the same?
Only so much he can shuffle it... Then he has to address the issue of the amount of ball going in, cause and effect thing in my opinion

Fellas please. Yeo is not going to be playing midfield minutes now, we all want him there but it won't happen.

The Falcon Strike is right. Yeo's midfield aspirations took a hit when Mackenzie went down, going by what we saw and also by everything Simpson said afterwards. And now with Brown out too i'd say the idea is completely shot. Just like we saw on the weekend, he'll be playing down back this year and he'll be matched up on taller opponents because we need him to. It's a damn shame.

If it were up to me, i'd **** off literally any of our starting midfield (bar Shuey) and have Yeo in at every bounce. Repeating "Yeo to mid Yeo to mid" ad nuseaum is not going to make it happen though.

I didn't actually mean shepherd in terms of football

Just rather - if we threw a team of Duggan/Sheed/Yeo/Newman/Nelson/Maginness et al into the midfield and dropped Priddis/Wellingham/Masten/Selwood etc I don't think we are going to see great development in those kids

Rather we are more likely to get burn outs like Trengove,Grimes etc Roos has identified this and got triers like Cross into the side to cop some hits

Watching Brad Hill today and thinking of his first year. He would smash quarters and then go missing as he simply couldn't sustain it. He is getting to the point now where he can.

I agree the midfield has to change and hopefully that occurs - I just don't see value in making it happen overnight

There is no need to throw the baby out with the bath water. And as it stands it's easy to see the frustration at our midfield boil over into genuine disgust for individual players. Which is bad but justifiable.

There are genuine problems with certain players entrenched into our best 22 and we simply haven't broken out of those shackles and freed ourselves from playing them as a requirement to being competitive and eventually you have to bite the bullet and face up to the reality of the situation. If Simpson is to survive then he has to cut and there is no time like the now. 2015 might soon be a lost cause and you only need to look at McGoverns influence being lost playing FB instead of CHB to see why.

Priddis to old, too important to cut. But he's nearly done anyway, the end can come quickly past 30.

Masten just panics under pressure. But the big one for me is that he also turns inboard because he has no leg speed. He's a genuine momentum killer at stages and you can't drill slow guys into running past opponents of teach a small and mature midfielder into not panicking when using the ball by hand. Replace him with someone that has relatively advantages on top of just endurance, because it's pretty much his only asset.

Rosa, just a crappy user of the ball and more of an accumulator than anything else. Rosa is the reason i don't rate Colledge at all, average contested game, average user, only Colledge is slower and lacks Rosa run and carry ability. Avoid these guys like the plague, they lack discrete strengths that hurt sides.

Butler. Mature age player but lacks composure and is poor in critical areas of pace, disposal hurt factor and some game sense. His defence is merely average. At an age where he's one big injury away from retirement and at an age where we know he's not going to be around for our next big dance the question is why play him. He's not good enough, nor critically important enough to be entrenched. Woosha was moving past him and Simpson has moved back to him, to our long term detriment.

Wellingham. I don't really care about, flaky and inconsistent but is actually good In good sides. Can't elevate his own game to play midfield so he shouldn't be looked at as someone who is protecting our young players from doing too much lifting. Has enough utility to survive but it probably won't matter in the long run. Cavka or Magginess could go past him quickly before finding bigger roles to play.

Drugged for masten
Waterman for paddy
Schofield for Wellingham
X for butler

I would also like to see Bennell and Newman have a run

Extreme but we are stabilising the season to develop for next year

Couldn't disagree more with that statement mate. Cripps is quite versatile and can easily play through the middle and off half forward. Newman also has this capability, where as McGinnity is terrible at everything except running around. Newman should come in straight away and McGinnity should be in the WAFL all year.
I wouldn't trust Newman to lock down on anyone, I wouldn't want his natural attacking game jeopardised by having to babysit one of their defenders.

ALL the talk on the eagles website/media outlets is about the BACKLINE, how are we going to save the backline?!?! Our biggest concern is our ##*# **## **## midfield!!

In reality, when was the last time our senior players laid shepherds? It's not a common occurrence, it's one thing that really irks me about the modern Eagles (albeit they are not alone with this) no sacrifice for your mate.
Butler was conspicuous in laying shepherds and blocks in Saturdays game but posters on here just don't see it

The match committee don't write the stories though

simmo just on 6pr said "I wouldn't be surprised if there were two or three changes to be honest". interesting. He clearly wasn't happy with the midfield said 'they didn't show up".

B: Bennell Emac Brown McGovern Schofield/Butler
HB: Rosa Hurn Yeo
C: Gaff Priddis Wellingham
HF: Masten McInnes LeCras
F: Cripps Kennedy Tunbridge

Foll: Naita Shuey Selwood

I: Ellis/Nelson Sheed Lycett

S: Lucas

Might be wishful thinking with neither of Schoey or Ellis coming up. If the MC was thinking sub with Lamb I expect him to have a break after playing 3.5 instead of 1-1.5 quarters of footy. I think Nelson will likely get a spell too. There is getting games into 18 year olds and then there is setting them up for soft tissue injury.

Shit is bad when you are praying Hutch gets back on the park ASAP  I would like to see Scooter have some games in the WAFL but I can't see that happening currently.

Would love to see something bold from Simpson like Priddis subbed out and Shuey and Sheed working the inside role (assuming we get to sub at our discretion) especially if the game is essentially dead and buried one way or the other. Not going to hold my breath though!! :(

I really want Duggan in in the wafl he is in there going for contested ball even if he is outsized but more importantly when he gets the ball it looks like time slows down. also both footed.

If Mcgovern is 1v1 in goal square vs sandi i guarantee yeo or ellis will be there within seconds.
Which has what to do with Hurn playing on the oppositions 2nd KPF? Apart from that, how can you guarantee anything? You do realise that these players also have their own man to cover? Also assuming they just leave their man alone how are they going to get to the goal square in time, if as I said Hurn is isolated in the goal square with their KPF and Ellis and Yeo are out on the half back flank covering their men?

I'll put money on Duggan as sub this week. East Perth have the bye. I also think they will bring in Hill for Lamb. Long shot of Newman for McGinnity
