Changes vs Carlton

I'd rather wait a few weeks and see how Van Berlo goes. If he maintains the form of last year, I don't see why he wouldn't play 5/6 games at the end of the year. We can put Browne on the LTI list if we're that desperate to get a game into Sibosado.

Gotto agree with Sibo. Too much downside, not enough up in playing him early. Want him to be performing at WAFL, not WAFL reserves level, before we start thinking about him.

From WA Today

Daniel Gilmore (South Fremantle)
Collected 30-plus disposals for the third straight week, but more importantly is hitting more and more targets and getting his confidence right back up there after a terrible end to 2008 and start to this year.
Spent most of the game on the wing in South Fremantle's 39-point win over Perth at EFTel Oval and finished with 22 kicks, 11 handballs, 13 marks and four entries inside-50.
Dockers' teammate Josh Head showed some reasonable form with 16 possessions and a goal from half-back.
Kepler Bradley (West Perth)
Worked hard all afternoon to finish with 27 possessions and seven marks, but like the rest of his teammates was quiet in the last quarter when the Falcons blew a 22-point lead to lose to Claremont.
Bradley was certainly better than his Fremantle teammate Adam Campbell, who managed just seven kicks and one goal.
Tim Ruffles (Perth)
Was the best of Perth's AFL contingent in a disappointing performance to lose to South Fremantle by 39 points. Spent most of the game across half forward and did well to finish with 18 possessions, a goal and five entries inside-50.
Fremantle teammate Marcus Drum was better in patches with 19 possessions.
Jay van Berlo (West Perth reserves)
Played his first game of the season after stress fractures in his foot since being rookie-listed by Fremantle following winning West Perth's fairest and best award in 2008.
Looked good in limited game time to collect 14 possessions and kick two goals, so could be right for the league side within a fortnight.

If that summary was provided by Malaxos, I would think Selectors are going to probably reward Gilmore this week. Lets hope he can do a Duff and pull himself out of the rough.

Great news that Jay VB got through his game unscathed and had a reasonable one. Lets hope a call up to the seniors (WAFL) soon.

I dont actually know too much about him though....does he play much like his bro??

Oh no! Pav's now on the FFC official injury list. Apparently once you're on the list there's no escape. You're doomed for eternity. See you next season Pav.

Rumour is that Murphy is in doubt for Sunday.

So question marks now over Fev and Murphy with possible axing of Stevens (has copped a lot of heat over here).

So...Pavlich is out, Johnson is still injured and Grover is likely to be fit.

Out: Pavlich, Suban
In: Gilmore, Hinkley

I'm sure the selectors will be tempted to bring in Bradley, but I have real doubts over his ability to play in a key position. Unless Clarke is dropped and he can play as back up ruck, I don't particularly want him in the team.

I think Gilmore will come in for Pavlich, he can play through the midfield or line up at CHB if need be. Which would allow McPharlin to play up forward again. I really don't want it to happen but he will come in, it's just a matter of who for.

I dont think Suban will be droped this week Chris.
However I do admire your consistent support for your Buddy :thumbsu:

Not dropping Suban, more just resting him. I explained it on the first page. And it's all well and good looking to be aggressive all the time, but you still have to back it up by winning your own ball.

Plus it would give an even more exciting prospect in Hinkley another chance in the team. :D

Crhis you are flogging the dead horse regarding Suban. I support Hinkley as much as you do mate, but they play totally different positions.

You have been pushing for quite some time for Suban to be rested, however it may come true in the next month or so. Harvey mentioning on the news that a few of the new blokes will be rested in the next month or so. But I imagine that will be when we are getting the senior blokes coming back in.

I don't think their positions are all that different though. Everybody always says that Suban is a small defender, so would have to be replaced by one. But when was the last time that Suban actually had an opponent and had to shut them down? I don't think he has ever been given a big job.

We have plenty of guys who are capable of roaming around the half back line like Suban. And if the coaches are serious about trying Hinkley out as a tagger, then he could always be given a defensive role.

Suban is doing a very very good job for a first year player. Look elsewhere. I particularly watched Ballantyne on Saturday and yes He looked stunned at first but the most pleasing part of his game was that as the game went on and incidentaly got harder, Balla slowly got better and better. I could see him snap himself out of it and have a red hot crack at coming to grips with it all. It was a lousy game to have to play first up but he didn't crumble. I will be pretty surprised if He doesn't play really well this week.

WITH Matthew Pavlich ruled out for two to three weeks, Fremantle has at least five options to cover the skipper for this week's clash with Carlton.

Standout performers in the WAFL, Daniel Gilmore and Kepler Bradley did the most to press their claims for a senior recall, according to development coach Steve Malaxos, but there are three other options open.

Malaxos said first-year player Tim Ruffles may be looked at after another impressive WAFL performance, while Marcus Drum has shown improved form over the last month playing forward.

Adam Campbell had a quiet WAFL game, but Malaxos said he was an option if the selectors go tall.

Bradley (27 possessions and seven marks) was Malaxos' WAFL performer of the week, and the coach said he would be discussed seriously at selection along with Gilmore (33 and 13).

Ruffles played his second half onball for Perth, the first time he has done so this season, and finished with 18 possessions and a goal.

I'm guessing that Bradley and Gilmore will unfortunately be the two inclusions this week for Pavlich and Solomon. Personally I'd prefer to see Drum, Ruffles and Hinkley being given a chance.

Any chance Timmy Ruffles will get a go?? My mate is best friends with him. I played a game of footy against him in 1st grade when he has 15yrs old. Got it on DVD. He got knocked out from an0 elbow by 1 of our players and a brawel started, we were up by 4 goals at 1/4 time and lost by 100 lol He came back on and dominated. Hoping he gets a game. He told us he has to get a run soon cuz u guys have no1 left fit to play lol

what about clancee pearce?? how come he didnt play, wasnt he named?
He pulled out due to personal reasons. He made a stand, condemning the violence against his Indian brethren in Melbourne recently. This came as a shock to some members of the selection committee who were still of the belief that he was Aboriginal. They are now in the process of checking his birth certificate and the AFLPA to see whether they can impose any club sanctions.
