I don't see any WAFL ....I have a real life to live lol

McInnes v Barras ...who's the better player ...talent v athletic ability v natural footballer ...

I don't see any WAFL
Well of course not; you're not obsessed.

I have been calling for Barrass to be given a go for about 6 weeks. Like many on the board now, we want to see him play.

However if Turdpit is playing, I think McInnes is a more suitable opponent. He has played down back at EP. When he was in the team when Darling was out, he got the job done. His stats may have not been brilliant earlier in the year but the structures he was playing in worked. He has also been dominant in the WAFL doing all he is asked (this week, 19 HO, 18 disposals, 8 marks, 3 tackles and 2 goals).

Schofield is our best opponent for Buddy.

Turdpit out and the focus on Reid - I would go Barrass.

So it will probably be a tough call and expect both to be left out of the EP line up against South Fremantle on the Saturday fixture.

Given it's a Sunday game I'll go with a 25 man squad. If Butler isn't fit Nelson comes into the 22 and a sub option. Barrass V McInnes I'll probabaly um and ah about for most of the week. Barrass is definitely worthy of selection but if match ups don't allow for it I don't want to see him play.

IN: Butler, Barrass, McInnes, Lucas, Nelson

OUT: McGovern (inj), Selwood (general soreness that gets better between Thursday and Saturday allowing him to play WAFL)

BACKS: Sam Butler ~ Will Schofield ~ Brad Sheppard

HALF BACKS: Elliot Yeo ~ Shannon Hurn ~ Sharrod Wellingham

CENTRES: Matt Rosa ~ Matt Priddis ~ Dom Sheed

FOLLOWERS: Nic Naitanui ~ Luke Shuey ~ Andrew Gaff

HALF FORWARDS: Chris Masten ~ Jack Darling ~ Mark LeCras

FULL FORWARDS: Josh Hill ~ Josh Kennedy ~ Jamie Cripps

INT (7 man) Xavier Ellis, Callum Sinclair, Mark Hutchings, Fraser McInnes/ Tom Barrass, Jackson Nelson, Kane Lucas

Looking at the likely match-ups - shepp will go to Goodes!

Hopefully he can continue his great form in shitting down these blokes.

I daresay Josh Kennedy (theirs) might play a decent amount forward as well - so Hurn the likely opponent

Yeah, I was thinking Sheppard to Goodes makes the most sense and is a pretty sweet match-up for us IMO.

I haven't seen East Perth play, but from what I keep reading marking is a real strength of Barrass. So probably best position / role for him to take is McGoverns at this stage. If he can read the play well, and most good marks can, then let him have at it.

Not really worried of Tippett is playing. The way our defence works doesn't rely on big guys outside of McGovern. If they get quick ball movement and don't allow us to setup we are in trouble but would be anyway.

If Barrass comes in and shows he's up to it, any possibility we keep him down back and swing McGovern forward?

Might be the long term solution rather than the short term fix though. Hard to move Gov out of there when he's been in AA form.

Strange that I have immense confidence that he will towel him

The Gov is a big loss but we proved in that last 1/4 that our backline is solid if we stick to structure. Butler in to help keep that structure and Barrass to come in and offer some height.

If Hill is sore and not able to get up this week i would give Newman a go..even though he has not been setting the world on fire in the WAFL he would be a good choice as sub this week.

I have defended Scooter for ages but that game was rubbish by him and i think we should either bring in Lucas or College.

Might be putting the cart before the horses but McGovern in the forward line will be great ammunition.
Be it this year or next year when Mackenzie is back.

I firmly believe he would be best as a full forward, with stints down back if we are getting towelled.

All depends on Barrass's development, so no better time than now to bring him in

There's no way Richards isn't getting rubbed out if that's what you're worried about.

I wouldnt be so sure

Given mitchell took his kick - they may deem is High contact, careless conduct and low impact

That would result in a fine

The low impact would be debateable given how hard his head rocks back - but they usually go by the medical report which will show no damage done

Tippet got a week for an elbow to the head a couple of weeks ago.

And Fyfe got a fine for the same and Firrito let off completely whilst Yeo also got a week

I think richards deserves 2 down to 1. A fair grading would be High contact, careless, medium - which is 2 down to 1

I'm just saying it isn't a lay down misere that he will go.

Why don't people want to give Hutchy an extended run and get rid of Selwood?

I'd like to see that.

In Barrass, Hutchy
Out Mclegend, Selwood.

*I didn't see the pie game, but it is alwyas hard to come on as sub and do well. Hutch to get a bit of a run instead of Selwood.

Is it a loss for them? Hasn't been on the best form.

Structurally it is important because McGovern went down.
If Richards gets rubbed out this is their current spine:
Grundy - Reid - Nankervis - Goodes - Franklin
With virtually no other talls of note.
Tippett out forces them to consider playing shorter in their forward line (great for us) or bring in a taller kid (who?).
It also makes the ruck prospect very difficult. Nankervis was poor against average rucks last week.
If Pyke is still out then really their only other option is Derickx (who must be playing poorer than Nankervis anyway).
All of a sudden our midfield should capitalise on Naitanui's dominance.
They might have done so anyway, but this makes it more likely again.

3 changes hopefully for Swans. Will be a tough match. Richards has been in great form really important to their defence. Tippett was out of form but he was going to be playing against a debutant probably. Not confident at all as Sydney will be out to make good for a shocker last week.
