Preview Changes vs Eagles

No change unless Dick isn't fit.

Cox and Nic Nat will monster fraser and wood regardless... i'd rather have Leigh Brown while he's making them accountable. We need to practice sharking their taps as opposed to backing our rucks in. If history shows us anything its that we should be able to that well.

Jolly and Brown hit the scoreboard where it hurts, let em have the taps. Provide a contest and reduce their tap effectiveness, that is the the goal.

If Dick is not up to play I would suggest a different tact.

Medhurst fit = great. Has he found form yet? I didn't hear how he went in the VFL. Either way we should let him play into form and fitness and do the following:

In: Maxwell (if fit)/ Anthony (if needs more resting)

Out: Dick

Anthony or Goldsack to fill either Harry O's or Heaters spot and one of them move to the wing, Daisy up to HFF and Sidebottom to fill Dicks position... (hahahaha) Would prefer Heater up on the wing as i think O'Brien should go to LeCras.

Goldsack should hold his position.. Had the highest amount of 1%ers and was very solid down back.

Tempting to bring Jack back in after what sounds like a blinder. Goldsack though I thought was good and probably deserves a second turn. If Anthony backs up again next week with a solid performance and Goldy wavers, maybe a swap then.

I agree with Scruffy on Leon. If Leon was disinterested on Saturday, I'd say give him a spell, but he had Murphy's luck on Saturday night, so another turn as well.

If Dicky is injured then Medders, otherwise, no changes.

p.s. sounds as though Fraser played well on the weekend so if he can do that next week might have to look at Leroy, form depending.

Why not make this the week for "experiments".

In: Anthony, Buckley
Out: Dick (inj), Lockyer

Play Harry or Goldy up forward, and put Jack next to Ben Reid on the half back line, and let them work together, ala Scarlett/Mooney, Gilbert/Fisher.

Buckley can play as a running half forward, he is a nice kick, so I can't see why he can't play as a forward, even though most of his games at VFL level have been down back.

Let's face it, this is the "easiest" match we have left, as even Adelaide, Richmond and Port will be competitive, so why not try just a few things differently.

No need to change the whole side around, just try a couple of small structural differences and see how we go.

I don't think its time to meddle to dramatically with our structure. We need to settle into form with a top 22 and stick with it. Make no mistake. If West Coast come to play they will be a threat. I have watched most of the Eagles games this year and they have 2 problems, their turnovers from poor skills and bad luck with injuries. If they come to play they will trouble us, just like they troubled Geelong.

Its not time to take the foot off the peddle.

Having said that, would like to see what both Anthony and Buckley offer in defence. Only saw buckley in the NAB and he looked very off.. Liked lockyer's game though on saturday.

Have to play this one smart.

For the rest of the year our draw is as follows:

Winnable, Winnable, Loss, Winnable, Winnable, Loss, Winnable, Winnable, Loss.

That's being pessemistic though, which at this stage, is probably the safest thing to be.

Seeing as this weekend is an almost guaranteed win, ALMOST. I'd leave the side as is, unless Dick is too hurt to play.

Leon can use the next two weeks, sides he traditionally plays well against to lead into the St.Kilda game, give Nick a couple of weeks rest against sides we probably don't need him against so he's ready for the Saints.

So if Dick is too hurt, then bring in Medders to try and get some form back against the lowly sides in time for St.Kilda.

Maybe give Jack a run in the backline if Medders doesn't come in. Bring in Jack for Dick, and move Heath or Harry up the field.

Let's try something a little different. If Maxwell is fit and Dick is injured then just do a straight swap. This will allow either Harry O and/or Shaw to play higher up the ground more maybe even on the wing and, play Sidebottom as a half-forward role more often.

I think that Buckley and Anthony should be rewarded with emergencies this week.

Any player less then 100% fit should be rest because i think we can beat WCE without 5 or even six players out from our best 22.

What is with people saying rounds is a year off making his debut? It's built momentum lately 1 person said it now quite a few are sprouting it ad verbatim.

He has the VFL form he isn't a small player and would be playing forward, I say play him now his form warrants it been one of our best in VFL all year.

Has pace, defensive forward pressure, quality disposal with depth, knows where the goals are, a couple of games this year will only benefit him not hinder him.

Good chance to rest a couple with niggles, and maybe bring in a first gamer or two... I wouldn't be surprised to see three or four outs.

i don't like the sound of this resting players, we could beat the eagles with a few missing etc. i distinctly remember sitting in my hotel room (f*ck all else to do in adel) prior to heading to the pies v crows last year and watching the eagles steamroll the dogs at etihad as massive underdogs. dogs were something like $1.04 heading in. this is a massive danger game make no mistake

No one is going to be rested, they all had rests last weekend, players want to play and realistically shouldn't even need a break, it is only round 14. I'd say round 17 against Richmond and round 21 against Adelaide may be bookmarked to rest a few players with niggles.

I get what your saying...:thumbsu:

But hopefully one has turned the corner and can start having an impact....

Probably not the 10 year one... turns like the QEII!

Mate, i think we've all been hoping this for what seems an eternity.

But time after time they wander around letting the side down with their insipid efforts.

I say **** them both.

Leroy Brown had a red hot go all night, was involved in very important plays, was very competitive as second ruck and did lots around the ground, both back and forward.

Heartless performers should be used only as a last resort, pending injuries.

Give me people who have a crack ( no plumber jokes pls) any day.

Only logical change can be Medhurst in for Dick.

Bringing in the likes of Macaffer will add nothing to our forward line.

If Maxwell is fit it might be a good game to try Reid up forward for a while. Leroy can move down back to cover while Dawes can relieve ruck.

If Maxwell does play and Goldsack stays in may be also worth trying Harry O further up the ground - hes a bit dangerous around goal.

Heading to the home stretch now and the time for experimentation is done.

Maxy should rest for another week.

Only change is Medders for Dick who even though he hasn't done anything to bad to his shoulder, give him a week at least to recover.

B: Toovey - Prestigiacomo - Goldsack
HB: Shaw - Reid - O'Brien
C: D. Thomas - Swan - Wellingham
HF: Didak - Cloke - Beams
F: Davis - Dawes - Medhurst
FL: Jolly - Pendlebury - Ball
INT: Sidebottom - Lockyer - Johnson - L. Brown

We actually looked pretty potent all night, and aside from accuracy I wouldn't really change anything aside from necessary injury changes. West Coast have two competent rucks, but I'm still happier having Brown in for Fraser as he has shown the ability to have a significant impact outside of his direct ruck work. How many goals did Leroy slot on the weekend? Was pretty pleased with his output.

Contary to many peoples perspective I think that Leroy backing up Jolly against the Eagles is the best option this week. Neither Fraser nor Wood have yet done enough to justify a recall and Leroy can apply real physical pressure to Nic Nat while Jolly can compete effectively with Cox. We need to establish some stability not mix it up straight after our mid-season break.

Medhurst in for either Dick (shoulder) or Lockyer/Davis.

Was very solid in the reserves and directly set up around half a dozen of our 13 VFL goals.

There is no one really to drop from the Sydney game. I watched the game again and looked at the stats and most had a decent game the only one i could think off is, dick if he doesnt pull up right. I really want to see Simon Buckley in the team he has showed great form in the reserves and needs to be rewarded but the only problem is there is no one to drop for him.

Does anyone know if the teams are getting named today or tommorow?
