Do we drop one of our tall rucks? I'm afraid Essendon will run us of our feet.

How long can we carry Cox?

Im a Tad worried about that too, but I do think we can expose there backline with our Talls, just have to get our fair amount of i50s ! the other scenario I was thinking was

In : lecras, college
Out : cox, Ellis

I thought Cox played very well, but I think he'll be rested this week. It seems to be the recovery that gets the old guys and a fortnight's rest will have him fresh and fighting for the final game of his career. All year we've pretty much known Coxy will retire this season and there's been times I thought he should have been omitted, but now that the moment has almost arrived, it's a bit sad.

Looks like brown may not get up for the game . Do we need another tall defender with Emac Schofield and McGovern ?
Out brown Ellis
In Lecras maginness ( sub )
Sheed full game

Didn't think of the 6 day break + travel - but it would impact Naitanui almost as much as Cox as he is getting sore between games. That being said all three ruckman were on the track at training yesterday.

It was a gutsy call by the match committee to play Cox against Collingwood. Big game, finals on the line, taking in too many talls and the risk of Collingwood running us of our feet at Subi. It worked out in the end but we'd all be criticising them if we lost.

Even at his age he dominated the last quarter against pies because of supreme endurance. I just hope lycett can get to that level because natanui never will .

Heard lastnight, that ASADA have come out and said, even if this court hearing ATM determines that their joint investigation was un lawful, they will just re-issue all the 34 players the show cause things again. That has to be a massive burden on the players invoved, knowing that even if the Bombers win this case, they will still have to face the music. Could be a massive week for them all off field, hopefully meaning they don't turn up on Saturday and we can nab a win!!

I reckon it will have the opposite effect, simply because every time there has been controversy the players have come out firing.

Based on this history, I would say that this court case is very untimely... for us.

Not sure how anyone could criticise Coxy's game last week, he had 19 disposals, 6 marks and 31 hit outs.

Nicnat had 8 disposals, 3 marks and 21 hitouts

Lycett had 10 disposals 3 marks and 3 hitouts.

Coxy was the dominant big man on the ground by a country mile.

I would have no issue at all if Nic nat was rested and Cox and Lycett take the duties.

I'd be more inclined to play Cox against Essendon, and then rest him for the Melbourne game

6 day break might be too tough for the old body. I was happy with his performance last week but expect him to be dropped.

I reckon a straight LeCras to Ellis swap, with LeCras mixing it up in the midfield and put one of the youngsters in as a sub for the outgoing Cox.

Ignoring Lycett's four goals and Nic Nats 2 goals. Brings that mile a bit closer.

The point is that Coxy's performance was very good and NN performance was again hugely over rated. We all know Coxy has retired and this is his last season but if he can perform as he did on Sunday then he is more than fitting in our best 22.
Coxy has not been great this year but for some reason many don't want to even acknowledge when he does play well which he did on the weekend, the fact it is not as good as the Coxy of 3 years back doesn't change the fact it is still as good as anything we have on our list consistantly.
Nicnat and Lycett are the future but best 22 should always come first. If that is all 3 of them then so be it. At the minute I think it is.

Cox played his best game of the year, no doubt.

No, he wasn't.

Stats are one thing. NN was the ruckman that ignited our midfield. I'd expect anyone who watched the game might have noticed that. Cox was ordinary in centre bounces and wrestled like an old man around the ground.

He was ok. At best.

Well we dominated the stoppages and lost the centre clearances, our midfield certainly were ignited but not by just Nic. Nic's chasing. smothers, tackling etc is clear for all to see and it has a huge impact. Cox's game was still better than ok and more than on a par or better than with Nic on Sunday.
Stats yes are always clouded and I normally pay little attention to them, but you can't tell me that between the two of them 51 hitouts that only Nics were of benefit to the team.
Anyway I thought Coxy was better than ok on the weekend.

NN was huge on the weekend. His tap work was sublime, and he made it easy for Shuey and Priddis. His work at ground level was also immense. Again, we see people overrate stats. NN ignited the midfield, brought two of our midfielders majorly into the game and helped us control the first half, setting up our win. Great game.

This is one of those games where I wish I could be put to sleep at 2:30 and woken 3 hours later, and just check the score and not have to either sit and watch it, or be out somewhere, and checking the score on my phone every minute.

This is the first time in a while I have been nervous about a game.

Equal parts nervous and excited for me :thumbsu:

Yeah that was one of the first games this year that Nic looked to take majority of the centre ruck contests, and he won majority of them, either with a tap, or with follw up pressure. We all know with Nic that it's not about stats as much, so comapring his stats to Coxy doesn't show the real influence he had on the game.

$2.30 with TAB this week. Remember what happened last season - same round same venue - and we are in the best form of the last 2 years right now. By their own fan's admission their fwd line is in disarray, Fletcher out and Watson will be well underdone if he returns this week.

Hop on!
