Changes Vs Melbourne

The way I would like to see the RFC Best 22 come seasons end 2009:

B: Moore Thursfield Raines
HB: Newman McGuane Rance
C: Cousins Foley Deledio
HF: Brown Pattison Richardson
F: Nahas Riewoldt Morton

Foll: Simmonds Tuck Cotchin
I/C: Thompson White Coughlan Browne

Coach: Not Terry Wallace
Not Wayne Campbell (we don’t need the RFC playing group culture from the 90’s back in town)

I understand that at the moment that this team is not achievable due to injury, however like the idea of being able to actually have the type of experienced players around our developing juniors to not let the ‘rot of mediocrity’ set in and will actually progress our club to greater things.

The thing I like about the look of that is the lack of passengers (assuming Browne & Nahas develop into the type of roles/players we intend them to). Each player has the potential to win the game and contribute to a strong team given their chance. The side has good decision makers and the majority of them are our best users.

Players that I think should be knocking on the door will come out of Collins, Vickery, Post, even Polo & Hislop

Players such as Edwards, Jackson, Hughes, JON & Graham will never be any more than bit players who will fill spots due to injury or suspension. Coburg will be all the better for it.

However in light of the above plan, I do think it would be fitting to offer those from our club that are moving on a memento of their time with us;

Valued Service Award
(In recognition of duty & service to the club)

J.Bowden & K.Johnson

Participation Award
(For rocking up yet not doing a thing)

J.McMahon

Recession Award
(For actually causing a negative growth in the development of the RFC playing list)

J.King & J.Schulz

Collins Class Submarine Award
(For not even working upon receiving ownership, investing bucketloads to get it up to speed and still classed as useless):

R.Tambling

Oh dear!
That well and truely is it. The mention of Pettifer has just ruined what was a very average thread.
Would prefer watching JFish and co. talk about their homoerotic tendencies over the ins some people are suggesting.

Out - King, Edwards, Hislop, Angus Graham, McGuane
In - Connors, Cogs, Nahas, McMahon, Thursfield

OUTS:

J. King - breaks my heart every time he gets his hands on the ball and turns it over in the defensive half.

S. Edwards - for all the hype and 'potential' that has been talked up about him, he has not shown it. Send him back to the ressies to get some confidence back up. Looks too slow as well.

R. Tambling - his game against the Dogs was horrid. Needs to regain some confidence; dominate in the center for the Burgers.

T. Hislop - played decent against Geelong but against the Dogs who are a fast running side, his poor skills showed up. Needs to work on his disposal.

J. Bowden - have always stuck up for Joel, but it looks like he's getting slower and slower each week. Starting to get really unreliable and at times looks really disinterested.

J. Schulz - must go. Shown very average decision making and disposal. Time to try someone new.

INS:

A. Collins - Very impressive form in the ressies of late and has clean disposal. A definite inclusion for me.

A. Thomson - Haven't heard much about him from reports etc, but bar injuries I would like to see him have a crack especially if Hislop is gonna be dropped.

M. Coughlan - Please, please, please play COGS! Waited far too long for him to play AFL again and has found the ball quite a lot. Need some hardness and quality disposals to our outside midfielders. Also has experience.

D. Gourdis - Time to show us what he can do in the big league. Kicked a bag in the ressies so give him a run. Tall, strong, athletic. We don't need another skinny flanker down there. Play him out of the square.

D. Connors - Big, big fan of Connors. Play him off the half back flank. Quality disposal and a good footy brain. Can't do any worse than McMahon, King or Edwards.

R. Nahas - kicked a bag in the ressies and I reckon he should have a crack against a mediocre Melbourne team.

So here's how I reckon the team will pan out for Rd 4.

B: Newman Moore Rance

HB: Collins McGuane Polo

C: White Tuck Richo

HF: Brown Riewoldt Deledio

F: Morton Gourdis Nahas

R: Simmonds Thomson Foley

INT: Graham,Coughlan, Jackson, Connors

As much as I would love to see this team run out, TW is sure to slot McMahon back into the team.

Out - King, Edwards, Hislop, Angus Graham, McGuane
In - Connors, Cogs, Nahas, McMahon, Thursfield
so we leave one ageing ruckmen in the team to ruck the whole game. if you take out a ruckmen most times you put another one back in.

Can Terry Wallace just do something a little fresh. FFS mix things up a bit?

In: Nahas, Coughlan, Connors

Out: Schulz, King, Edwardes,

I've defended Schulz in the past but this guy is a complete nugget right now and a liability up forward. Tired of him doing nothing week in, week out and earning a spot.

Jake King - I respect the guy I really do. He plays for the jumper and has a dip but he turns the ball over way too often. We can't afford these easy turnovers when our side can't get em back.

Edwardes - Disposal lacks any sort of penetration and gets bumped around way too easily. Build a frame.. Any frame.

Anyways I guess we'll see the return of the Mexican Pornstar this week ... ;)

Go Tigers!

Can one of you guys tell me why nahas was dropped after the Geelong game? I didn't think he set the world on fire, first game nerves I suppose, but he looked like he applied a bit of pressure in your forward line. It annoys the hell outta me when first game players are dropped after 1 outing where their form can't really be judged. Get him back in the side I think.

Also where is Hughes at? From an outsider perspective he has much more potential than Shultz and should be given as much time as possible to consolidate his spot. I don't know the feelings of you guys on the matter, but to me Richmond's forward line has appeared to be a revolving door of some sort, with Riewoldt being the only constant over the last 2 years (Richo of course playing up the ground more last year)

I'm hoping this will be a close game, but granted you guys have your back against the wall, Richo tends to fire up against the Dees, I can't see Melbourne getting withing 5 goals. Obviously I hope I'm wrong, but truth be told I'd rather see Richmond succeed before other teams, like Carlton or Essendon.

1) because tambling took his spot.
2)he was injured going into round one and is now playing vfl reserves.
3) im tipping richo 3 brownlow votes and a 6 goal win.

Richmond v Melbourne
Sunday April 19, MCG, 2.10pm

B: Newman, Moore, Rance
HB: Hislop, McGuane, Polo
C: White, Tuck, Collins
HF: Brown, Richardson, Bowden
F: Morton, Riewoldt, Deledio

Followers: Simmonds, Jackson, Foley
I/C (from): Oakley-Nicholls, McMahon, Nahas, Graham, Edwards, Connors, King

In: Collins, Connors, McMahon, Nahas, Oakley-Nicholls
Out: Schulz, Tambling

I can't believe King stays in the squad. I feel sick. Schulz and Tambling deserved to be dropped. Reckon Edwards is lucky too although I don't think he'll make the final cut. if he does, I'd like to see him go back to being a forward.
Of the extended bench, I'd like to see Connors (please?), Nahas, Graham and JON form the bench.

I/C (from): Oakley-Nicholls, McMahon, Nahas, Graham, Edwards, Connors, King

4 of 7...

Graham is a given. They need the 2nd ruckman.
JON. BOG for Coburg for mine, so should get a nod.
McMahon..others thought he did well for Coburg, so will probably get in.

Throw a blanket over the others, I think they'll go Connors as he'll probably make the biggest impact in a game we need to win, although I'd prefer Nahas if they were prepared to give him say 4-6 games on the trot to find his feet at that level and make it ( or not ).

Whats the go with Cogs....why the **** arn't they playing him?

He's not match fit yet.

And before you suggest playing him 10-15mins/qtr, that's all he was playing for Coburg last week.

As for Hughes/Gourdis...they played Coburg RESERVES last week...Yeah,they looked good, but any AFL listed player at that level should look good.

just seen the team. wallace just isnt taking it seriously. how can king stay in ? naming mcmuffin really sh*ts me too. drop hislop, edwards & king, & leave mcmuffin out. in's for them should be cog , thomson , cleve & thursty. i would rather see patto instead of graham. i think jon is a dud, but in reality jury is out because he has never been given a proper chance. wrapped tambling is dropped, should not have played last week.

i know there will be some disagreement with thursty & cleve. imo thursty plays a great shut down role & has also got a good feel of playing with moore & mcguane. the 3 work well together. with cleve, i know he has not done anything. he has to be given a lot more of an opportunity than what tw has given him. imo i would love to see him given ff for the rest of the year. no improvement by rnd 22 then at least you know he is a dud.
wallace is great at killing young players confidence. blooding to me is not in for 2 out for 8. and when wallace does give them a go, he plays them in the wrong positions, think patto, delids, tambling ....
