im looking foward to seeing connors, i hope he is alot fitter then last season.

they said he trained hard before getting injured, was up there with cotchin, white etc for working the hardest.

need this guy to get fit and we have a gun, has so much talent its not funny.

steve johnson without the pace.

I have a few concerns over the selection of this weeks side,

McMahon from all reports got a lot of it last week , but most of his kicks were ( outside ) not through the corridor and as such lacked any real impact, which is an area in his game that stops him from impacting upon a game as much as his stats sometimes indicate.
Connors fit does have a lot to offer, when not quite fit his defensive skills drop off, incidentely happens amongst most players.
Nahas although very good at VFL level doesn't have the body to have the some impact against the better AFL sides, not sure he could have bulked up to much within a fortnight.
Collins fully support and great to see.

A false indication will be given by these players performance today, as most know Melbournes side is more like that of an VFL side than any other club, ie small bodies.
We have 8 players who anywhere near fit and playing against reasonably sized bodies should be in our best 22. Cotch, Coggs, Cuz, Raines, Patto, Thursty, Schulz, Thompson which obviously means these lighter bodies realistically should be set back to the VFL, again shooting their confidence.
Coggs, Thomo and Patto you would think are in a better position , even at reduced fitness to play against bigger bodied better sides and in anticipation of future weeks would have thought they were a better picks this week in preference to McMahon, Nahas and an unfit Conners( incidently Coggs and Thomo have played more games this season season than conners ?? )
Maybe it would also have allowed the opportunity of Patto to be tried KP forward and for those that are playing midfield roles currently, to fill the void whilst Cousins, Cotch return, to be tried as the small forward. ( White ?? )
But thats looking toward the future, something unfortunately where not accustomed to is it ??

Although I agree with your theory PTF. IMO, Conners and Nahas also fit into your players of 'needing' time in the seniors for development. Only McMuffin would be in the 'not up to it' category and a waste of an prep. game opportunity.

Both Conners for fitness, and Nahas for the speed of the faster game (Davey does OK for his size!), I think would benefit with this game. The other 8 you put up are coming back from injury and can be better 'managed' at Coburg where even if other players get injured during the game, a Cogs type would not be risked with the extra game time, even if it meant sitting him at FP because only 17 fit men were available. You can't do that at AFL level. Why risk it with Cogs, Cousins, or Cotch?

Hope Nahas kicks 4 today and then cements his spot and weekly gets his 3-4 and jams it up ya;)

I'd hope he holds the ball in or creates 5 turn overs , in the forward 50, and creates 5 goals for the team, more so than kicking 3-4 per game himself , against a reasonable backline then I'd say he's jammed it up me.
