Changes vs North Melbourne

Robbie Gray being tackled 'round the ankles rugby league style inside the 50 metre arc and told to play on was particularly humorous, in a shit, Dave Hughes kind of way.

"So Robbie...you got tripped?"

"Yeah"

"No one cares."

I'm happy with are playing North this week. They attack the game a lot more then Sydney and Fremantle and on Etihad it might release the shackles on our boys a bit. Should be a great game played by 2 sides who want to attack. Not under selling North's defence but looking forward to seeing us get some space. Something we have been denied the 1st 2 games. Just want to see us get going this week
Exactly my line of thinking.

We are not as proficient in that high intensity pressing style and rely on a more rounded game than Freo and Sydney. Great when it comes off but teams can get a hold of us if we are slightly off around the stoppages or give them a bit too much space off half back. I think this week will be more of a shoot out and while that may release the pressure on your boys it also suits us more than a slog does.

Should be interesting to see how the game transpires.

The very fact McInnerny felt compelled to call "play on" meant he was well aware Robbie was blatantly infringed but needed to reiterate "I'm not giving you a free so just get on with it".

Was that the one were we ended up getting a free 20 seconds or so later, but 30m further from goal ?

I was gonna dig up the game analyser and see if the HTB against Polec (for dragging it in) was as bad as it looked like.

Full statement on the Jacko incident - they got it spot on.

Contact between Port Adelaide's Jackson Trengove and the Sydney Swans' Isaac Heeney from the third quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. Sydney had scored a goal and the ball was being transferred back to the centre. Trengove and opponent Kurt Tippett had confronted each other after the goal had been scored, with other players in the immediate vicinity. Trengove made contact to Tippettt's shoulder with an open hand as he pushed out towards him. As he did so, Trengove's hand slipped off the Sydney player and made contact with Heeney, who was standing next to Tippett, to the Sydney player's face. It was the view of the panel the high contact to Heeney was below the force required to constitute a report. No further action was taken.

Not necessarily a change, although it would require an extra defender to be brought in. Trengove to be trained to be the second ruckman while Lobbe is injured. Not just the occasional(or sometimes never) pinch hit but someone to share the ruck and forward duties.

P Stewart would seem the logical extra defender to be brought in.

So does he get an apology from Robbo who suggested he targeted Heeyney because he was an easy target?

In fairness to Robbo, he was probably drunk when he said that.

Any chance you guys can not bring up a lopsided umpiring result from two years ago, this week?;)

And don't forget Monfries doing a hammy while running into an open goal - when the **** has that ever happened?? Then 10 mins later in the 3rd, Wingard's ankle gets landed on killing any influence he may have had for the rest of the game.

North Melbourne, the most kissed on the dick team vs Port in the history of sport.

I had blind faith in the club that they would've only picked Redden if he was up to it, fit and raring to go, but it wasn't to be. He was so far off the pace it wasn't funny. What a huge mistake it was bringing him in. Even if Lobbe is not available can we really afford to play Redden again?

I was disappointed in Butcher after the Fremantle game because i saw it as a big opportunity for him to cement his spot in the side and he was a let down. Perhaps my disappointment in Butch went too far and in the lead up to the swans game i may have made a snide remark that a cardboard cut out version of Redden would offer more than Butch, but now having seen the cardboard cut out version of Redden i have to admit i was wrong there too.

So the question is if Lobbe doesn't come up do we bring Butch back in? I think we might have to.

Other than that i feel Young has to come in, what more does he need to do. Swap him with Neade.

And i wouldn't mind trying Krak, swap with Impey, but apparently he isn't fit enough? How would he not be fit? Hasn't he basically done all the pre season, couple trials and now a good hit out rd 1 of SANFL where his stats were exceptional.

Have you ever seen a player ping a hammy 7 metres from an open goal before it happened to Monfries?

It's the kind of shit you dream about as an opposition fan.

Would only ever happen to us, not for us.

North are a very attacking side, I would like to see us utilise some mobile defenders rather than talls, maybe bring in one or two if we have those options. I still want us to be attacking enough so that we play forward of the ball most of the time, but North's aggressive gameplan is vulnerable to well balanced teams.

Will the roof be shut?
Have the roof and Scott made up yet?

Well done Robbo. Very rare to see anybody in the AFL media hold themselves accountable for their mistakes. Kudos.

Remember that time Chris Knights did his ACL against us with ball in hand but still managed to kick the ****ing goal from 40 out before he was stretchered off, not to play AFL again for 23 months and counting? Only Port.
