Changes vs Saints

I wasn't saying Lamb should get a game, but who else could be the second KPF, or are we going to play with a midget fwd line to match the backline?

Yeah when Simmo said there could be 5 changes, I didn't think he would bring 5 players back but assumed one or two would be rested. We are really tempting fate against the Saints. A win gets us 2 home finals, we should be treating it like a final.

Just on this, from what I can tell by the ladder, I think we have 2 home finals guaranteed regardless of a win or loss. Win and we come second, lose and we all but certainly finish 4th, meaning we play Fremantle here anyway.

We could still finish 3rd. Depends on whether the swans rest a few players or not. They will know beforehand whether they can drop out of the top 4 or not.

I don't mind resting Kennedy. He looks like he needs it.

If Schofield and Wellingham also miss perhaps we would go in like this:

Bennell McGovern Butler
Hurn Barrass Sheppard
Masten Yeo Gaff
LeCras Darling Sheed
Cripps Sinclair Hill

Naitanui Priddis Shuey

I: Rosa Hutchings Ellis/McGinnity
S: McGinnity/Ellis

E: Selwood Newman Lamb

With Kennedy, Schofield and Wellingham in next week for Bennell, Barrass and McGinnity.

No Rest.

If all Kennedy had left was one arm and a heart I will still pick him.

These days I can't imagine an Eagles side without him!

In: Schofield, Masten, Butler
Out: Ginners, Bennell, Barrass,

FB Hurn Schofield Ellis
HB Shep McGovern Butler
C Rosa Priddis Gaff
HF Yeo Darling Cripps
FF Hill Kennedy Lecras

Foll Nic Nat, Shuey, Masten

Int Sheed, Hutchings, Sinclair Sub: Newman

McGovern needs a full hit out. He has only played 4 quarters in 6 weeks of footy so he needs a good solid hit out

I agree while Kennedy may need a rest they can take rest after we win our qualifying final

I get that it's not guaranteed, but I feel like it's more than likely. Anyway, if we win, we won't need to worry about these other options. I just don't think it's the end of the world if we lose and come fourth. Losing and then coming third on the other hand, that'd be very bad.

I personally think we should play as close to full strength as possible, barring injured players.
Last week was as good as a rest for most anyway.
We should be trying to get as good a form back as we can to be ready for Hawks, they as sure as hell will be ready for us.
We win first final everyone gets a rest anyway.

sad but true, Nic played in 2 min bursts, Kennedy stayed at home and Leca pulled out of a few chases. made me wonder. This is different??

now we need to fine tune the game not rest unless the need is medical

Have any teams that rest a heap of players in the final round ever won the premiership?

I'm not convinced it helps you at all.

Fremantle is an example of a team that has done it and lost a grand final.

Yeah I would've thought maybe a rest 3 weeks out from the finals?? Then you get a few games to fine tune things, get everyone back to good match fitness, and get some continuity in your best 22 for the finals.

I think Simmo made a good point, although he was having abit of a laugh about it, but we've had a fair chunk of our players miss a week or 2 over the past few months through injury and suspension, so that could help us, it could also hinder some of their form, like it has with Gov, so who really knows what the best scenario is. Whoever wins the flag will have likely done so not because of what players have rested when.

We were talking about this last night and it seemed as though there was a little bit of "bugger that, I'm not gonna risk getting injured".
Top 2 was near enough in the bag so I don't think they tried as hard as they would have if it was must win game to stay top 2.
LeCras, possibly our best set shot, going the banana from in front??? Really?? :confused:o_O:eek:

I like to see Newman play a full game .....he's got smarts

That said butler, schofeild and Marsten are good ins

McGovern should be rested if there is any doubt .......
