Changes vs Saints

If the named 22 runs out on Saturday I'll be happy. However it is a concern that Schofield isn't fit. Assuming he's okay for the QF he be'll going in without any footy for a month.

Think we can afford to at least rest JK; rest of the forward line, resting rucks and mids should be able to make up the goals.
Agree, daresay most teams, especially Hawks with their scoring would rather play Freo than us.
Can't remember the last time Eagles played in Sydney actually, and don't think it would suit our style.

Yes, it would have been nice to rest JK - think we would have done it if one of Lycett or Mcinnes was available.
I think the last time we played Sydney was in 2010. If I remember correct it was Woosha's 200th game as coach and we lost by 50 odd points.

Naita had a field day against the bulldogs when they barely brought a ruck division over.
After only playing him for 60% game time last week against Adelaide, are we likely to ease him through and let Sinclair ruck?
60% game time again?
Holmes can jump but he'd be pretty nervous right now.

Not happy Nelson getting a game over Newman.
Forward out defender in too many defenders in that squad.

Would of been perfect game for Newman to get a full game, and show us
something special, he is different to all our current forwards.

Would also give him confidence if we need him in the finals due to injury.

I'm more than happy with conservative approach To Schofield

He's a defender ...he'll be fine ...I also think we can beat saints without him

Whereas hawthorn we need him

Yes agree completely; they should have kept Newman rather than bringing in Nelson - would have been happy if they kept Newman and dropped Hutchings or Rosa instead. Does not deserve to be dropped, may be they feel he needs to play a full game in the WAFL before the finals?

It's not too many defenders. It releases Yeo to mid/forward and gets Rosa up the ground. Between Rosa, Masten and Gaff we should have our run back, plus Wellingham helping Shep down back. Nelson can play through the middle, they can all rotate. The rotations is what had us going early on in the year.

Even Wellingham can play midfield if needed also .....I like the flexibility of our side now ....it's not rigid like it was in the worsfold years later on

Yeo can play various roles and so can rosa .....so too Nelson ....and it just adds flex ability

Bang on the money!

Yah Yeo to the midfield....schwing!

I didn't see Newman getting the chop but can sort of understand the reasoning once they decided to not risk Schoey - pick the extra defender to make sure they have some options if the initial match ups aren't working.

I REALLY hope Hutch has a huge one and holds Selwood out of the side.

geez we look a whole lot better with Wellingham and Masten in the side ....butter

I'm a butler fan ...he's played in big games and yes he's not the most skilful but he will handle the pressure ok

Sammy Butler is fine to play when he has a role, and is not playing on quick small forwards.

He gets exposed then, quick forwards pressure his kicking and he gives up crucial goals.

Match Sammy on a medium forward and he will be fine.

I'd say that Butler handles pressure better than just about anyone in the squad. Probably the coolest head we've got.

He will make skill errors (hey who doesn't?) but he won't make under pressure mistakes

With shep, Wellingham Hurn Yeo, gov ....he won't get the gun forward ..?

I like him and Ellis in the team ....They add experience and coolness ...just old school defenders
