It could be a factor but it won't be the factor. The AFL industry across the board is waaaaay too precious about the issue. I see NRL players involved in State of Origin in midweek backing up for their club on the weekend. I look at the most brutal sport in the world, American football, and see teams coping with the occasional Sunday arvo-Thursday night turnaround. Teaspoon of cement FFS!

They had a split round around it though this game

So players either get the bye before or after the double up game

Please try and keep all discussion on topic, namely: the physiological effects of long-haul flights.

Cheers.

Sorry, I meant to say only 23 of the luckiest young men were given the massive advantage of flying across the other side of the coutry to play a game of football. God speed you aeronautical pioneers.

just saw a fair chunk of the boys out on chapel st cruising around. gov looked fine and told me he was right to play
I stayed at a lady friend's house last night in Richmond. Should have sabotaged the place somehow

If it's taking you 4 days then your behaviours need to be changed

It's the same for just about every other bloke doing the same shifts, nothing to do with behavioral changes at all as there's nothing that hasn't been tried, it's just a case of the body clock needing to adjust and it takes time.
We have split changes so there's always a guy on shift that's been there at-least 2 weeks, oil company's have tried everything to limit it as they'd save an awful lot of dollars on choppers if they could go to complete crew change out rotations.

Why isn't McBean playing? should I trade him out of my SC?
Not sure why you would have McBean in your SC team to begin with, never going to get large amount of games due to his size and competition for spots

So, trade him

Alcohol? idk I don't care that much, if I did I'd be getting paid a lot more than I do :D

Hardwick recently said that if it rains, we'll more than likely drop one of the 3 tall forwards (either Griff or Ty obviously). Maybe the theory is that even if Gov isn't 100%, we might be without one of the bigs so it won't matter too much anyway?

Current forecast for Friday night is 12 degrees with 30% chance of showers.
you dont change winning formula. your mob will come with 3 talls, even if hurricane katrina hits MCG.

Simmo presser yesterday:

- Gov will travel and train - we'll assess it after that - but we think he'll be okay.
- More likely to play than not. It's a corky - if he can run it out - he'll play.
- We have a contingency if that doesn't happen. Everyone is pretty fresh.
- If Gov doesn't play, you'll have to wait and see what that contingency is.
- It's Gov's first full season of AFL and he's still learning how to handle his body - but he has copped a couple of knocks.
- If he puts his hand up, he's 100% to play.
- Gov is in our best 18, of course we want him in the side - especially with the talls - but we'll find a way regardless.
- We're look at this week irrespective of the bye next week - it's just another game.
- Medicos have planned the last couple of weeks very well - has been a tough period.
- The 6 day breaks are simply a reality - we have to deal with it and manage our players - but it won't be an excuse for any sort of underperformance.
- The players are raring to go.
- Players don't worry about the travel - it's just something that is part of our life - and they like travelling together. The travel helps our unity.
- We leave nothing to chance with preparation in periods like this. You can only train them so long in these windows - we probably overcooked it last year.
- Tigers have changed a little bit in the last month or so, but their good players are playing well - that's the main difference. Their movement is a little bit smarter than earlier in the year.
- Tigers fans are the worst human beings in the history of humanity.*
- Our collective defence and the way we move the ball will determine how we go in this game. This year for us has really solidified for us that team defence is top priority.
- Tigers played very well in Fremantle game - they beat the best side in the comp. We expect they're rested up and ready to go.
- [Asked re Sharrod's contract/form]: We're very happy with his form - not consistent yet - but he's really bought into what we're doing and the players have bought into him. He's meeting our expectations of him now.
- [Asked re Hill's form/improvement]: He's one of many players who has grown into the role we set for them. He's found some great form off the back of work rate - it's what he does off the ball that most pleases us. Our forward six put on a lot of pressure and he's bought into that.
- [Asked re MCG weather]: We can't do much in Perth to prepare for wet weather beyond sprinklers and night training. We don't get many night games at the G, but we're doing the little things you can do - but you can't really replicate the MCG on a winter's night really.
- MCG's space is a real test for team defence - lots of uncontested marks and so on.
- Richmond are making better decisions than they were - they're balanced in how they move the ball. It's working for them right now.
- [Asked re Friday nights]: We don't think about the occasion of it - we just know it's a massive game and a chance to put our best foot forward. Might be a few fresh haircuts in the team though.
- [Asked if crowd noise is a factor]: All you can do is learn from those experiences - the Port game was a great experience in that context - we'll learn from this one way or another.
- We understand it'll be a tough game, but we're up for it.
- We're dealing with a crowd that's against us every second week - I think they feed off it. It does get better with experience though.
- [Asked if Richmond win means top 4]: We're not looking at the bigger picture like that. We block the season up into chunks. We want finals, and we want more wins than last year - that's the goal.

* May not have actually happened.
