I am sure he won't get dropped but baker is a little all over the place at the moment. needs to pull his finger out otherwise he will find himself out of the team. no doubt agitate those who still feel the trade can somehow change.

nevertheless, that trade or not, if he isnt performing, out he should get.

I think Baker has a similar problem to Duggo. Once the captaincy hit they both try to do to much reducing the effectiveness of what they do.

Duggan has been better since he stopped dump kicking everything and has slowed a bit to use better options. (Not saying he's suddenly amazing, just that he's gone from rubbish to serviceable).

Baker needs too ease up just a little and just do what he can well instead of trying to do everything.

Different players. Baker is a pressure player with poor disposal. His biggest influence as captain is cultural and leading by example for effort. He's also McQualter's "Mr fix it" so has been moved all around the field this season. I think he's suffering from that and needs to be put in a straight forward role he can excel in. When Starc is fit, I'd drop one of Cole or HJ and move Baker forward to tag the oppo rebounding HB. Free Murdock to rotate on ball.

If the new coach boost was that real, teams could just sack their coach every week and go undefeated.
Yeah, I think it's mostly applicable to coaches like Voss and Simpson, who try to force playstyles the players aren't capable of, so if they already have a lot of talent on the list and are freed up, they play a lot better due to not having to adhere to a plan that doesn't work.

Considering Essendon had no plan whatsoever, and they don't have much in the way of high end talented seniors that aren't injured, it's a very different scenario for us v Essendon.

Bombers by 10 goals :(

I also think the team can handle pressure of expectation a lot better as of recently. After beating GWS - including stopping a five goal (i think, or four?) burst and then genuinely keeping a 90k magpies crowd relatively quiet at the mcg, i reckon theyll be right

I am not sure doing dump kicks = doing too much. If he was trying to break lines, spear passes, then yes, he is trying to do too much.

I think the interim coach up tick thing is pretty simple and occurs in the corporate world as well.

Players that were previously cruising or putting in minimal effort suddenly think their job isn't as secure as it was. Players will often lift their intensity for a few weeks to impress their new boss.

Don't really care that there coach got sacked

more concerned with the bloody weather

I've been dying for us to get a decently tall ruckman. 208cm May sounds perfect. Throw ins and ball ups around the ground is where these giants are invaluable. Ruckman never get a jump at it in those situations. They are always grappling and it comes down to strength and reach.
