I would have said yes, easily.

Mark Robinson has done a full article on chappy for tomorrows sun.
On radio tonight they were talking about players that are available to move.

Then Robbo said something unusual.
"Geelong have offered him a 1 year deal. And he's not really happy with that. He thinks he has 2 or 3 in him. I asked him if he'd thought of going somewhere else. And he has. Just for a fleeting moment every time it pops into his head. But he is thinking"

1/ I'd be incredibly surprised if he left.
2/ I'd be incredibly surprised if anyone was even interested. Don't tell me he has tickets on himself.

Don't think he has tickets on himself.
Don't think anyone would be interested

I think he may be in denial as to where his career is at.

As much as I would hate to see him at another club, I would not hold it against him i guess.

Did he mention Port Adelaide or West Coast?

I think Chappy proved this year that his best football is in the forward third. He started there and he gunna finish there all with no hair.

have no issue with a player wanting a little extra towards the end of his career
i feel he may play 2 more
but as a permanent forward where he can be lethal

he had hair back in 2002 when he was playing forward.

That's right' :thumbsu:

I didn't like the style he went for the following season.
Always felt he was trying to copy that player from the 80's who played for the Blues.

The headband he use to wear looked absolutely shocking!
Glad Lingy told him to get rid of the hair and the headband.

He's aged really well I must admit.

Agreed. One year is fair enough. And any other club would be mad.

Yeah, one year seems logical. And three would be mad. Two...? Hmmm...I'd like to think something could be worked out if he wants that.

I'm really surprised that Chappy would think about it. Nothing against what Chad Cornes and Luke Power have done, but I thought he'd be too proud to do that. He was very disappointed with his year in 2011, even saying he felt like he'd been carried to the premiership. That struck me as being the comment of a guy who'd rather burn out than fade away, a guy who probably couldn't handle the decline into being just an average player. The other part of it is the over 30s pretty much all have to go over the next two years (except possibly Enright). If Chapman makes multi-year contract demands at the end of the season, maybe we can't keep another one of our old blokes (considering how delicately we need to handle their retirements, to ensure it's a gradual process).

If we can't agree to terms and someone else offers him 2-3, well, I wouldn't like it. But I wouldn't have any ill-will towards him.

Despite what some critics say he is having a great season- since round 3 is averaging 24 possessions, 2 goals and 5 tackles and continues to improve.
In saying that, not sure he can get more than one year at a time but good to know the desire is there.

On a side note, that person that spends their time photo-shopping hair onto Chappy's head, has FAR too much time on their hands.

I will say though, what a pair of twins could have been...
Two very angry boys.

Agree wwith this.

Noone has any right to be upset with chappy or any of our other ageing champions if they finish their career doing a year or two at another club getting paid overs. All the players would have been accepting under market value for a number of years to give us the best dynasty we have ever seen.

With that being said I still think chappy has some great footy ahead of him- inside the fwd 50 with bursts into the midfield in the final qtr only

As long as he understands that he'll get selected on form then I don't see the problem with offering him 2 years. Maybe they need to work with some of the older blokes about when they're going to retire but you'd think we'll be able to find enough other dead wood so that we don't need to go cutting youngsters.

He's been a club champion and is still well and truly inside our top 22. Give him his 2 years. If his form dramatically slumps he can become a real leader of the VFL team like Tim McGrath did and teach some of our up and comers.

No way. Too risky. What if he does his knee? That's another whole year wiped off. What if he suddenly hits the wall like Joel Corey may very well have done (despite what people want to think). You can't afford to do that once a guy hits 30 and beyond.

Chapman has turned his form around this season after a slow start, but it must be 1 year deals from here on in. If he can manage 3 more seasons of quality that would be an unbelievable bonus.
