Just got delisted from Sydney. Maybe worth a late draft pick?

Why? He has been on the Swans list for 3 years and hasn't played a game.. We have Gawn, Fitzy & Spence to develop we don't need another one.

Looked up a bit about him and he had only played 3 games of AFL before he got drafted... So I think not

Probably means 3 competitive games of AFL football as opposed to having played rugby or soccer etc before turning to AFL

Yeah he had only played three games of AFL Football.

Was actually in the AIS for Volleyball, you know how they turn out to be footballers...

Sorry I should have been more straight to the point. AFL is australian football leage, the game is Australian Rules Football, he wouldnt have played "AFL" before being drafted.

Who are the best (young) non-AFL alligned ruckmen going around in the VFL, SANFAL and WAFL at the moment?

Might be worth posting the question on a few of the other boards for the WAFL and SANFL - Ill do it and relay the answers back here.

Orren Stephenson in VFL for Roosters
200 centimetres and 104 kilograms 27 years of age
Dominates the VFL and has represented the past 2 grand finals and i believe made team of the year as well.
Could go very nicely with Jamar?

Gee I'm glad youre not our recruiting manager. Thats 2 shockers so far!

What about Blake from Geelong? Worth having a go at during the trade period? Out of favour at Geelong and would be a great combo with Jamar. Jamar could spend more time forward if this was the case and ease our pressure on needing a KPF in the near future. Definitely worth a try IMO....

god no for blake, geelong has rucking issues and still find a way to piss blake off.

Ive asked around the Adelaide and WA boards and it doesnt seem there is anyone of note going around in the WAFL at the moment.

Jon Giles (198cm, 22 y/o) has some huge wraps though. Was previously delisted by Power and it sounds like they know they made a mistake. Also sounds like GC are onto him but Im sure Melb would be interested as well..

He was particularly high in his praise of Giles, suggesting the Power would rue it's decision to cut him last season with the Gold Coast set to pounce on the Double Blues giant.

`Giles is the best player in the comp... He is far and away the best ruckman outside the AFL. He would walk into a team as a ruckman,'' Rendell said.

Yeah not much going on in the WAFL as far as ruckmen. Certainly not many young blokes going around.

Llane Spaanderman is probably the best going around in the WAFL - he'd be 24 by the start of next season and has already had a chance at AFL level. He's really just a better than average WAFL footballer so not worth looking at.

Other guys are Michael Rix (former St Kilda ruckman) playing for Subi who's probably past it at 29 and the most appropriately named player going around, Andrew Ruck from Claremont. Ruck is only 196cm though.

We have Jamar....AA, we dont need another great ruck, just someone who can pinch hit and give Jamar a rest, he will still do the damage. also let Jamar move forward occassionally. that is why i like Hale and i will keep pushing his wagon, no he isnt a star but can play forward and ruck thats all we need. Gawn and Fitz are coming through, ect

Good call - let's not target the best ruckman outside of the AFL - let's go for someone crap..

If you're after a good tap ruck (who offers next to nothing around the ground), then Taylor from HFC could be an option. Like Blake, he's one of the better rucks at getting his hand to the ball, and actually directing it to a team-mate (they were both top-5 in 2007 and 2008) - but the current Hawthorn gameplan requires a much more mobile ruck.

Could be a relatively cheap option for you (like a 4th round pick or even later) trade.

The changes that are to be introduced for the interchange bench will have a major bearing on what type of ruckman MFC will need in the future... Can we carry a large big body type interchanging off the bench with little or no time spent up forward, eg Blake?

If Jamar rests up forward at times when (say) Blake comes on for 10 mins each quarter, it may very well save us a few interchanges for the mids to use...

This would be my preference, as I feel getting the ball tapped in our favour at stoppages is critical rather than a biggish player contesting for hitouts without any real chance of succeeding...

I've been sitting on an ENTER SPAANDERMAN headline for five years so this would be epic.

Never said to get a crap ruck mate..... just dont need two genui9ne rucks, Jamar has proven he can handle a large workload, Geelong and Hawthorn never had a ruckman as good as Jamar when they won their premierships..... Collingwood have Jolly who is good then a FWD/RUCK in brown.
My point is not to pay BIG for something we dont need, someone like leigh brown would beideal in my opinion
