They were rubbish until Freddy kicked his second to put us within a kick. I commented about it in the match thread midway through the final term that they were sorely lacking in a time of need.

Hopefully that wharfy time atmosphere shows everyone how effective & electric we can be.

Nah, not only did the Freo chant ring out more than once during the game, but the “let’s go Fre-o, let’s go” got up a couple of times too. Perhaps the most active and vocal I can recall the cheer squad being during a H&A game at Burswood.

I understand the impulse to bag the cheer squad on this, but honestly, it just feels harder / less effective getting chants going at the new stadium. Unless you’re on the bottom level maybe, you feel further back from the action than at Subi, and the stadium as a whole is generally less full (last night was an exception, obvs). The Freo chant catches on pretty well, because it rings out and it feels uniting, and people give a bellow or two. But used too often or at moments where it doesn’t seem right and it kinda feels like it loses its effectiveness and appeal, so I can understand the cheers quad being sparing in its use.

what's the deal with our flags? The Hawks had ridiculously HUGE intimidating flags compared to what Freo had. I believe there is a restriction of the size of flags (noticed the sign for the first time last night) but what we had looked pathetic compared to the Hawks.

I wonder if there's someone we can donate to so they can have better 'stuff', or maybe the club should be helping them out.

They were definitely more vocal all night, for a change
