I spoke with a person recently who has/had no idea what Chernobyl is, or about, or location of, or history of. He's in his 40s. But not a former Soviet.

When you went to see him, did he describe your condition as “not great, not terrible” or “you’ll be fine, I’ve seen worse?”
Or walk in naked saying its 50 degrees down there
Although I made comment of it during one of the episodes to my wife, I didn’t find the English accents distracting at all. The combination of that and the written Russian made it easier for me to understand the nuances of the power dynamics at play, especially considering it was such a hierarchical societal structure that is completely different to what we have here.
But in general our attitude towards figures of authority is very different to the Soviet Union. It might just be fear rather than an actual attitude though.Assume you mean the violence and murder and getting throw out of helicopters. People still pay the price if they make their superiors at work look inferior.

I had an old specialist who was from Hungary and told me that that he had an interesting school visit in 1953 as part of a ra ra Soviet agitprop program.
Vasily Zaitsev.
You might know that name - the Russian sniper in the film Enemy at the Gates.
