And comparing Carey to Chick ?

There is no point worring about what they paid for Carey. If they win a Premiership in 2-3 years - it was worth it. If not - they were duded.

Carey is all about getting a Premiership now, with their gun midfield in is prime.

By the time they got a new recruit up to start forward status there midfield would have got a bit older and (while more experienced) a bit less quick and good IMHO.. They needed a Gun in the position that they lack the most for the next few seasons. Time will tell if it was the right decision

I thought Hawthorn were already offering a lower pick for Spider which the Saints refused. Unless you're suggesting they offer both for him.

I'll believe it when it gets confirmed by an official source. Overall, if true, I'd say a fair deal for both sides, with the Eagles taking more risk of it backfiring.

The club has said they WILL trade players if the right deal comes to hand, but won't deal our top players.

Chick will be a very good player for the Eagles
He will add aggression and hardness to the team
The eagles are not a good tackling team (although they have improved dramatically under Worsfold) and Chick is an excellent tackler and will also provide more leadership to the team

I'm reasonably happy with that. I would have liked for us to get Chick a bit cheaper, but in all honesty the deal is fair.
