Hey all,

I love music and it's ability to change your moods, energise you etc etc. The problem with me at the moment is that I use fast paced, energetic music a lot to get me going for excercise, big days at work in stressful environments etc etc but I tend to never really wind down on the weekends and relax.

I'm looking to start some new playlists with some pretty chilled out music. The kind of music you could put on a playlist, hop into a hammock read a book too and just relax. Could be from any genre really electronic, rock, pop etc etc so long as it's pretty slowly paced and what you would consider "wind down" music.

Name some artists, albums and recommendations below and I'll have a look at my spotify premium during the week.

why not give classical music a try? something like ravel's daphnis et chloe?

Whilst I'm open to the idea I simply wouldn't know where to begin as i've never listened to a minute in my life. Name a few more songs or artists that I should have a listen to.

Here's some trippy atmospheric euphoric dubsteppy stuff (only way I can describe It) that I find relaxing yet uplifting at the same time. Sends a chill up my spine and melts my cares away every time.

Love this one too.

Bachs cello suites are sublime

Chill out music is my thing. I listen to it 90% of the time whether I'm driving somewhere, on the computer (like now) or after a night out.

Anyway, here's a list of artists for you mate.

- Evenings: My favourite artist. This guy is an utter genius. Saw him when he came to Melbourne late last year at Laundry Bar, there was literally 30 people there and it was so intimate. Loved it. Actually took my girlfriend along (was our first date haha).
- Tycho
- Mountain Range
- Shlohmo
- Washed Out
- Bonobo
- Boards of Canada
- Shigeto
- Giraffage
- Nosaj Thing
- Orbital
- Seekae
- Teen Daze
- Youth Lagoon

I always look forward to any release from Jon Hopkins
Here are some of his more restrained and reflective/chilled pieces

And yes coldplay used him and this piece in the making of their last album

Listened to all the youtube links you posted and this is exactly the sort of stuff I was looking for. "Lately" was great. Out of the other artists you listed what is sort of similar?

Man, you've made my day haha! Any time I can get someone into Evenings, it brings a huge smile to my face.

Firstly, I would say check out Evenings bandcamp page - http://evenings.bandcamp.com/ - he used to have his two EP's and debut LP on there and you can listen to them in full. If not, check out the bandcamp page of the label he's signed to (Friends of Friends) - http://fofmusic.bandcamp.com/album/yore-lp - this album is a compilation of all his work, plus a couple of remixes from munno and Shigeto which are fantastic and a new original.

As for other artists similar to him, I would say Shlohmo would be the closest, but only two of his EP's from a couple of years back. Evenings actually has a remix on one of the EP's. Unfortunately, Shlohmo has gone into a more hip-hop related beat direction these days (although I still am digging it. just not as much).

Here are the bandcamp links for them:

Places EP (2011) - http://fofmusic.bandcamp.com/album/places-ep
Vacation EP (2012) - http://fofmusic.bandcamp.com/album/vacation-ep

The other is Mountain Range, although it's not as close to Evenings as Shlohmo is. Still, definitely check out his work as well it's fantastic in its own right.

A Heart Upon EP - http://mountainrange.bandcamp.com/album/a-heart-upon-ep
Adjustments EP - http://mountainrange.bandcamp.com/album/adjustments-ep

And here are a couple more tracks you might dig.
