Out marked Hudghton, Gwilt and Fisher.

Kicked a couple set up and got into that melee in the third like a man possessed.

Dawesome has arrived:D

I don't think I've seen a bigger unit debut than him, he's absolutely massive, hope for you guys he turns into a 200 gamer

was watching him pretty closely, noticed that his defensive pressure was fairly poor/stagnent, but the coaches would definatly address that this week i'd say..

I think Sav was 1cm taller and a couple of kg's heavier..Big Anth has always been massive. Isn't he 105kg and 195cm?

finally someone is honest....this kid has a lot to learn surely u would think your defensive pressure and intent to tackle would be right up there in your debut game. just lacked intensity around the contest sorry but this is what i noticed.

Did anyone else hear him interviewed by Triple M after the match?

Wow, the bloke spoke with intelligence, class and confidence. Seriously, it was unbelievable that I was listening to a first-game, 20y.o.

That's been pretty well known for a long time, ever since he was first interviewed when drafted. He needs to cement his spot in the team first, but he seems to have a pretty keen footy brain and might be a candidate for captain in the future. Obviously a long way to go yet, but we are desperately lacking in captain candidates. Certainly seems to have has his head screwed on very tightly with the determination to make it in the AFL.

Why ask?
Go with your gut.

By the way it would be nice at this juncture to change you username to maybe DawesOpen instead of your current one. :D:D

Yeah Jack took off when he saw it, medders and princess fiona started it

Anyone else at the game notice how, with the long-sleeves, it looked a bit like having Tarrant in our forward line again?

He was good, more than impressive for a first-gamer and has great hands. Should only improve on his first game.

Although a negative I did notice was that towards the end of the game, in the last, he seemed to apply less pressure and let the ball out of our 50 too easily, especially when the game was still there to be won.

he did look stuffed.

I dont think defensive chasing will ever be one of his stringest points, but when he did lay a tackle he tackled to hurt

Brighton grammer boy.

Nohting but the best educations.

BUt yeah definetly sounded liek his head was firmly screwed onto his shoulders

I watched the interviews with Reid, Brown and Dawes when they got drafted.
I was surprised how confidently and intelligently Dawes answered all the questions. Later I read he went to Brighton Grammar.
Mick stated the other day that he is a highly intelligent young man.
Unlike some morons we have, who will learn from their mistakes. We hope !
Anyway, I noticed that he was buggered after half time.
Everyone has to realize that this is really his first season as he had the knee reconstruction. You can't expect miracles from the kid. Maybe he still has mental scars from the knee reconstruction. Maybe that is why he does not chase as heard as he should.
He can only get better after a full pre season and more games under his belt.
I was listening to some of the commentary and they said that he was considered to be the best contested mark in under 18's.
When the ball goes his way, he looks solid and a chance to mark. :thumbsu:
He does not have to mark everything.
Even a good contest gives the crumbers an opportunity.

Has a long way to go, very raw, but loads of (I know it's a dirty word) potential.

McCarthy. Now he is my kind of footballer. He goes about his work and puts his body on the line.

I reckon McCarthy is going to be a very good ball winner from 09 onwards, and we all know his foot skills are very good.

I heard only took Footy Seriously around the National u-18 Champs in 2006, He used to Play Basketball

Well if he keeps improving at the rate he has lately and gets comfortable at the highest level, we could have a very good forward on our hands.

Looked nervous when the ball hit the ground, but he can work on that.
