Could anyone please provide some info on how Egan is progressing or regressing down at Willi. Showed glimpses last year so was wondering whether he looks like getting back into the seniors anytime soon or even this year.
Sorry, but I haven't really got time to keep track of what's happening with our ressies.

Him and C3 are just having a case of the 2nd year blues...

They are playing him off the half back line to get him involved and develop his defensive game I think

mick will be patient with him like he has been with lonie and davis. people will be calling for his head soon enough but mick will stay strong and give him chance after chance till he gets it right coz we're seeing the dividends of faith in others.

Patience is the key here, as he needs to spend some quality time in the gym. I am worried at the same time because he flashes in and out of games, I don't think he has ever played four quarters of football. Next year is vital for the young lad, he must make his mark and break into the team.

No, please no.

i have it on very good authority that the club (mick and bucks in particular) arent happy with his attitude, and when he was dropped after round 1, told him that until it improved he wouldnt play seniors again - regardless of his performances at willy.

from what i understand its nothing too serious, just that he doesnt go flat out at training and doesnt work hard enough on the field.

he'll come good.

* when i talk about performances at willy, i mean that it doesnt matter if he kicks 5 goals - if he isnt working himself into the ground then he wont be recalled.

That's second year blues in a nutshell. Players who do ok in their first year just think it will all work for them without doing the hard yards.

you cant play the 'i told you so' card, all you said about him was that he was sh|t, useless and an arrogant w@nker.

;)
Arrogant w@nker would be the part where he is lazy and his sh1tty attitude. He is sh1t because he isnt playing 1s.

So, I'm right at the moment anyway.

lets delist pendlebury, rhyce, richards and rowe then.

Eagan and Morrison for pick 7. Not quite Pavlich for McKee but not great either. I hope we never cash in a top 10 pick again.

Mark, we almost definitely would have drafted Egan at #7 anyway.

The only other players we would have been looking at, like Danny Meyer and Matthew Bate, were available when we picked.

None of Jordan Lewis, John Meesen or Jordan Russell fit the bill of who we would have drafted, so I doubt that we lost anything in moving down 3 spots.

Why do you say that Vinnie? The club certainly hasn't said that. Why wouldn't we have taken Lewis?

Lewis would add nothing to our working class midfield. We need flair.

I agree we need flair. We may have scored that this year. In a year or two we wont have Buckley or Burns and then we will need grunt. The question is what does Egan offer and at this point I have to say very little. I think the WCE win last year was about his high water mark and it wasn't that high. Lewis I think will play a lot of footy over the coming years. Egan I don;t know about. Certainly for a pick 7 he carries a lot of risk.

Why didn't we pick up Hurn if we need a grunt mid? Or Nathan Jones?

I don't reckon we'd have taken Lewis if he was there at 23, let alone 7 or 10. We've changed our strategy somewhat.

Whilst Egan is a peculiar entity, I personally thought that I saw some improvement in him early on this year. This may sound strange, but I thought he was quite committed in the two praccy games I saw, kicking five in one.

He can learn some basics at Willi, but I reckon holding him back too much will have a negative effect. He is an ego driven player, and the main event is what he's after.

We were never interested in Lewis, our plod squad has to many members well and we certainly weren't going to pick up another one. Take a lookk at the players we have picked recently, no slugs and they all have a bit of flair.

Egan's performance vs. Coburg was not great, but encouraging. His attack on the footy improved, possibly after a half time baking. He played on the wing/HBF and was obviously told to get stuck in to the hard footy, and he did. This kind of performance is more important to his development than a game turning 3 goal 3rd quarter.

Chris Egan should be traded at the end of the year while he still has some currency to the club. Alot of people claim he has great skills but I doubt if I have ever seen a guy's handball skills be more deplorable. As for his kicking skills they arn't much better, particulary when he is put under any sort of pressure. The worst aspect to his game however is lack of intensity at the contest. Come the end of next year he could well be worth nothing to the club and most of last years and probably this years draftees will be in front of him for a game.

The club said that it traded down picks because it knew that the player they wanted to pick would be still around by pick 10! whether they were just bull:D:D:D:Dting i dont know, but that is what was said!

DOnt think it was a good idea to trade down coz all we got was egan and 1.2 million worth of lose :p
