Chris Johnson > Ireland!

If the Aussies go over to Ireland and try to start fights 24/7 they will lose I'm telling you. The Irish would run all over us with inspiration from their Irish crowd. We need to be focused unlike our last pathetic trip to Ireland. Bring in tough players like Brock McLean, Luke Ball, Brett Kirk and even a Robert Harvey swan song (at international level). They are all tough but fair players. I reckon Rivers would make a good player. If you had to pick 1 or 2 tall defenders I reckon he'd make a good one. Much better than Kepler Bradley at least :p

Rubbish response.

The Irish were taking cheap shots, but that's besides the point.

You guys would start a bit of rough and tumble, then when we retaliated, act like wimps.

As I said, I'm being serious, I really hope you guys stand up this year.

Yeah and I hope we don't just go out their looking to knock em down. If they try to start stuff we will fight back and most likely win but we need to win on the scoreboard first and foremost.

Yeah, ye really had no choice but to defend yourselves so we got what we deserved. That'll teach us for sending a team of short people to rough you up. How can you have any credibility when you talk about Irish cheap shots without mentioning the flying clothesline from the worlds toughest superhero?

Hoping this years team includes the likes of Mooney, J Carr, J Brown, Milburn, Archer, Hall, Hamill, Soloman and maybe even Peake, all of them just roaming around for Aus, would be crazy. Throw in some classy, quick players and we should win the game and the fights

Last year the Irish team went out with almost all small & fast players because thats how we beat you in 04, with our speed.

It won't be the same this year because the team won't consist of the same type of player.

Actually i think the biggest player on our side last year was Sean Óg Ó hÁilpin. I wasn't in the country last year so only got to watch last years series a couple months afterwards. so maybe someone can correct me on this if i'm wrong.

I assume the majority of people with the opinions expressed in the first few posts on this thread are by children who only ever saw the IR series last year.

Its not that long ago that it was us being accused of being the thugs and the Aussies going off with bloody noses. Graham Canty a few years ago was making better tackles then the Austrailians were, Eamon O'Hara make a joke of whoever was marking him 3-4 years ago.

Out of curiousity is anyone here old enough to remember the series from the 80's ?

And i just want to make a few more points.

- Chris Johnsons clothesliner was a disgrace, he could have killed Jordan quite easily with a tackle like that and if it had happened to one of your own teams in the AFL you'd feel the very same way so don't pretend that it was anything more then an act of a thug and a coward.

- In the melee afterwards a lot of you reckon Johnson was a great man altogeather for knocking over the two Irish lads, maybe you missed the fact that the two lads were surrounded by other Aussies as well and were being held. Its in that very video that first idiot posted on this very thread.

And another question, what cheap shots are we supposed to have done ? How many cameras were in the stadium during the two matches and not one of these cheap shots were caught on camera ? Not a single one ? And apparently the Irish were at it for the whole match ?

Not a single comment from the commentators, from the umpires ? From anyone in fact until the Aussie management well after the game was over.
Then suddenly "everyone" saw it.

Oh and by the way, absolutely priceless comment about the Irish lads sprouting racist comments. Who thought of that one ?

If you try to lie at least make it half beliveable.

I mentioned it earlier mate - it was a cheap shot, and it was disgraceful, no question at all.

And for the Irish racially abusing us? Who cares? What were they calling us, 'whitey' ??

The country they sent all of their convicts to ?

Ireland is not = England or the UK.

We WERE the convicts being shipped to your country from ours but we weren't doing the shipping.

Were you at the game? There were cheap shots all over the place, much of it not following the play.

Our boys had enough. Do you think these guys who gave the Irish an arse pasting in the first game just decided to beat you guys up for kicks? Get serious.

Ok then, show me 1 single cheap shot caught on camera. Just 1. Regardless of whether it was following the play or not, are you saying that the commentators, umpires and cameras missed every single one of them ?

You can't pick your nose in a soccer match without it being caught on camera and your saying not one of these cheap shots were ?

And please define what you mean by "cheap shot" in the first place.

It sure does. I feel a series of lists coming on! "How Oztralia is better than Ireland". Bonus points for anyone that can make me laugh. (With them, not at them).

1. There is no Tallaght in Australia, nor any TV host called 'Gaybo', nor do we have a trans hosting our lottery draw.

All valid points but before i admit austrailia is better i demand an official apology for Home & Away & Neighbours and the immediate cancellation of such rubbish.

I pity the Irish.

They were conquered by a single man and their race as a whole will forever be considered sqiubs.

What a shame.

Its fairly easy to knock 2 lads to the ground when your buddies are holding them isn't it ?

Oh and by the way, why don't you let the results speak for themselves. Obviously you haven't ever seen the IR series apart from last year or you wouldn't have opinions like that.

Country Series won Test matches won
Australia 6 13
Ireland 6 13

The Milburn one was the best. The Irish guy shat himself big time.

I agree. Milburn's just jogging along, Irish guy tries to start him, Milburn puts him in his place, and the Irish **** crumples onto the ground and stays there. Great stuff. Don't start something that you can't finish.

I'm not a fan of Johnno's clothesline on the Irish guy, completely unnecessary and a total cheap shot which a stocky tough guy like him doesn't need to make.

That said, everything else that happened in that game was started by niggly Irish cheap shots, and the Aussies made it clear they weren't going to take such unsportman-like crap, and made the Irish pay for it.

Pfft, not really. Sounded more like a bunch of whiny hyperbole.

Fact: Irish players tried to put the Aussies off their game by engaging in lame cheap shots and late tackles.

Fact: The Aussie weren't happy about this, and gave the Irish exactly what they deserved for trying such crap.

The only guy on that Irish team I feel sorry for is the guy whose head Johnno almost took off. Other than that, to a man they got exactly what they had coming to them.
