He's footy royalty but... A BLUEblood? Greg Baum

Yet Judd's decision to go to Carlton was strictly and unemotionally a business one. It was about money: not his, but the club's. "It's very hard to be a successful club if you can't spend money on the football department," he says. "Our spend is in the top three Melbourne clubs. What do they call it? Showbiz, not show-fun. You can't separate money from successful sporting teams."

Judd's other reason to pick the Blues was nobler. He wanted to develop with a premiership team, not gatecrash one. "I didn't want to just jump on the coat-tails of another group of players," he says. West Coast had been bottom four the two years before he was drafted. So was Carlton when he arrived.

There are some identical quotes from both The Age & HUN articles.

Judd reveals his passion for the game

HE may look like he could take it or leave it, but Chris Judd says deep down, he is actually mad about footy.

IT IS a subtle yet significant distinction, the difference between a high-profile player's attitude towards the game and the way of life imposed by the unrelenting focus on the game.

Carlton captain Chris Judd says: "I think sometimes my passion gets misconstrued.

"I think I've always been incredibly passionate about football, probably haven't been incredibly passionate about being a footballer, if that makes sense."

Well what can I say? Another fantastic performance from our Captain. He just keeps delivering. I can only imagine how much better he will be when Mclean gets back into the team so he can focus on his clearences and not so much the in and under stuff he does now.
It's great to see Murphy also lifting his game, I for one believe having Judd in the team will make him and Gibbs even better than they would have been.

Great things are to come for our mighty club, Thank God....I mean Judd, we got Judd.

For Goodes it meant being able to share in Judd's Brownlow joy last year at Crown Casino.
"Being there at his (Brownlow) after-party and just being in that moment and being able to share it with him and his family and friends was really special.
"He is someone that I have a lot of time for and will always go out of my way to do anything for him."

How about a quiet game Friday night then, Adam?

Judd confirms his calibre

Judd had almost got Carlton over the line in last year's elimination final against the Swans with a third term considered one of the great individual quarters.

His fourth on Friday night was probably even better. Judd won Carlton the game, pure and simple.

Thirteen disposals, 11 of them contested, and no fewer than six clearances, were the tale of the tape. What that didn't tell was how many were won with a sea of Sydney players hanging from him. Judd won 15 stoppages for the game, more than a quarter of the Blues' entire tally.

It was a reminder about the hardness and strong inside work ethic that flows in equal measures through the Judd make-up, as does his class and capacity to break open a game offensively.

Blue efforts will propel Chris Judd to elite status

WHEN footy buffs sit down to evaluate the merits of Chris Judd, they surely will conclude that he is an all-time champion.

Not because he has won (so far) two Brownlow Medals and a Norm Smith Medal, or that he has captained a (2006 West Coast) premiership side.

What will propel him to elite status will be his influence at Carlton, a club that was bereft in personnel, funds and credibility when he ventured there in 2008.

Players such as Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs, Chris Yarran and Ed Curnow are among those who have rubbed shoulders with the great and learnt more quickly and effectively because of his presence.

Carlton now has credibility and respect again - because it has Chris Judd leading the on-field revival.

He is a true champion.

There are others that people have mentioned in the same breathe like Riewoldt but they pale in comparison. His consistency is astonishing.

Cardable for bringing his name into this thread.

I have Judd on 15 (I've been harsh on him at times) and Murphy on 17. I have Pendles, Selwood and Mitchell on 15 as well with Moloney possibly on the same but I haven't finalized the Melbourne votes just yet.

Murphy is a huge chance but it just depends on which way the umpires go in particular games. If Murph polls a few 3's where I have him more likely to get the 1 or 2 he will be hard to stop.

Judd has been pretty quiet in the last few weeks by his standards, he's due for a big game this week.

I always put a small bet on the brownlow before the season proper, this year I went a place bet on Murphy put $10 on paying $67....looking ok at present, long way to go but

I'd have my money on Murph/Pendelbury/Jobe for the brownlow.

Reckon Jobe polled well for 8 rounds out due to injury, now out again...reckon Daisy has taken some votes from Pendlebury

Very nice, looking very good.

I know a few people who had a flutter on Murphy at huge odds before the season started.

Smart betting!

Well what more can I say? Another stellar performance form out skipper on the weekend.
In 2011 Chris is averaging 27 disposals a game, 13 kicks, 14 hanballs, 3 marks and 6 tackles.

A lazy 35 possestions on Saturday, with 12 kicks, 23 handballs, 3 marks and 5 tackles.

There is no doubt in my mind that if it wasn't for Chris in our side the likes of Murpy, Scotland and a few others wouldn't be playing the way they are.
We should start negotiations for a contract extention for the next 3 years just to make sure.

Chasing Judd
''He's got so much drive and balance, and the chop-out he gets from all his teammates is unbelievable,'' Greenwood said yesterday.

''I got beaten up more than I've ever been hit on the footy field before and that was just in the first half. He'd take me over to Andrew Carrazzo or someone, he'd hit me in the guts and I'd look up and Judd was off running."

''He's just one of those players who doesn't care if someone's hanging off him, and he always keeps working. He knows when you're stuffed - he listens to your breathing, I reckon - and when he thinks you're gone he starts running even harder. He's just … well, he's just pretty good.''

JUDD.

So can he win the brownlow

His last 3 games of the season were quiet on his standards, was burning midseason, him or a certain players at the Swans and probably Murphy will poll well.

Love him to win back to back :thumbsu:
