Dropped again from the Crows side. I could imagine his desire to remain at the club with limited opportunities is wanning.

Do we persue him?

You dont think he could make an impact with a fresh start somewhere else?

I think regardless of whether they should or shouldnt i think they will considering our injury problems and need for depth.

Tough call re Knights. The guy is 26 and has had injury issues. Has he lost pace? Has he worked hard enough on the track to get back to his best? His best is a fair bit better than plenty of others on our list - knows how to find the footy, not a bad user of it and can go forward and kick goals. If we can get him back to his best he'd be a handy pick up.

Knights to find the form of the past needs to play a good chunk of consecutive games. Crows have only played him 5 times with 3 in a row.

I think we could get him at a good price given his probable desire to play more.

Potential upside

Several Victorian clubs are interested him according to vic media.

This year he just can't keep up with the game. He gets abit of form up at the eagles, gets picked because of injury to someone else and then does shit...Then he gets dropped back to the Eagles for poor form and off the cycle goes again. I rekon his left leg is a bit lame, his kicking is alot more erratic than it ever was when injuries continually plagued a promising career.

He knows how to play FF, its like he did in high school but never had his last growth spurt so he become a mid fielder. When he was in form he required to be tagged off HF as he not only kicked goals, he created them.

He'll go back to Victoria.

Sorry, you're thinking of 2009 Chris Knights. It's true he's the kind of player who needs 5 or 6 games in a row to find form, but usually he shows something in those first few games, this year he's looked pretty terrible, and his pace... it's like he's running backwards (prob still faster than me). Also kicking seems to have lost penetration. Consensus on our board is his card is stamped "gone" and he'll be out the door: his last contract was on the back of his great 2009 season, so his departure will free up cap space for us too.

Like it or hate it - port have already spoken to his manager and let him know they would be interested in talking further after the season

Dear Chris,

You are a softkock. You are probably the softest outsider receiver I have seen on Aami Stadium since Nathan Lonie used to put the safety of the boundary umpires at risk by threatening to trample them. Last week when the game was on the line you took a few short steps at a contested ball and Brisbane kicked the winning goal.

This sort of gutlessness has been the hallmark of your career. If we wanted a player that wasn't willing to put his body on the line we would match Richmond's offer for Troy Chaplin.

If you receive a phone call from Peter Rohde or Geoff Parker, for the sake of Port supporters everywhere, please do not answer. If you see a girl in a light blue dress and red shoes being accompanied by a small terrier, a Scarecrow and a Lion heading towards Melbourne may I suggest you join them and see if you can get a heart. If there is a women's league in you final destination you should play. Maybe you could get your career first hardball get. But that isn't guaranteed.

Without prejudice,

John Hart Jnr
