Well did he do enough, to be worth the pick?

not reallyu - he underperformed with his ability - was nevre going to be great but lacked motivation anyway. not the first, wont be the last

and it was only a rookie pick wasnt it

His 2003 season was fantastic, but that was also his down fall as he used to live of past performances. CL has a great pre season 2004 (remember he kicked that after the siren goal vs. Port) and after that his effort levels dropped and didn’t respect the fact that he had to work hard to get a game and keep his spot.

If he worked hard and pushed his body to meet the required standard of an AFL player he would be a first pick player every week. It looked like he lost the motivation to work hard at the Adelaide Crows and that is the main reason he is no longer on any AFL list. He was given incentives to meet by Neil Craig and he didn’t or wouldn’t meet that required level.

Was Chris Ladhams a good pick up? In season 2003 yes he was after that I would have to say no, not by a long shot.

Well said.

He was a regular in 2 years for us and in both years he did some fanatastic stuff. Unfortunately that was it from him. Talent wise he could have been one of the best HF flankers in the league who was more than capable in the midfield. The opportunity was there and he didn't take it

CL was picked up by Essendon as an early second rounder. We took a punt on him in the PSD and he played some good games for us. I think he was worth a PSD pick.

Sums it up nicely for me too.

He has all the ability in the world. However, its whats between the ears that counts.

Was he worth it? Maybe for a season or so, but if you don't put in the hard yards, you won't make it at AFL level.

In the early 1980’s when football was first played night on a regular basis player used to put a black strip of boot polish or some crap like that under there eyes to stop the glair of the lights.

IIRC they got the idea from baseball players who did it and some still do.

Well that was the perception anyway, not sure if it actually worked or not. Someone who actually did it may be able to tell us other wise.

I've played at Norwood Oval under lights, and off memory the trainers put burnt cork (I think it was burnt cork) under our eyes, allegedly to stop the glare.

I can assure you it didn't help one little bit if the flight of the ball came in line with a $#%@# light!! You'd lose it for a few seconds and look like an absolute dillbury.

Remember when they played it at Thebarton? You could only see 4 or 5 spots on the ground. The rest was darkness.
