Super impressed with his game yesterday. His goal in the last quarter gave the boys the belief they needed to go on with it, and it couldn't have come at a better time in the match (obviously).

His skills have been sometimes questionable in the past, but I think he has thrived more so given this responsibility. Just seems like a bloke that is liked by everyone.

Natural leaders need to be recognised and given responsibility in order to shine. He has done this, and have said from the start he was the perfect choice to lead these kids into the success we all crave.

Looks to me he has the full support of the coaches and has really began to flourish with the leadership role...He looked anything but comfortable in the past however with the team spirit, dimma has struck with the group Newy has taken some genuine responsibility...He is in remarkable form:thumbsu:

I have said it all along, the man bleeds yellow and black and absolutely deserves to be wearing the number 17. I feel 100% safe when he has the ball and I know that he will put in 120% every single time he is near the ball.

Absolutely love the man :thumbsu:
I've never been a critic of his talent or heart but that very safety - an unwillingness to take the game on that saw him become far more of a sideways player than the unfairly maligned Joel Bowden ever was. Combined with his inability to develop a midfield engine, I became disappointed in a bloke I'd long been a fan of. To his credit, I'm a fan again.

I always said he'd be a good captain.:thumbsu:

And on his broken leg, it was not 'Brown-style' at all. Newy's was a clean break, like Barlow's is supposed to be, whereas Browny's was a horrible, shattered mess.

A clean break in two places, and at the time the Age quoted Brown as saying "it was almost identical to the fracture he sustained in the previous season".

Anyway, splitting hairs I'm guessing, a long road back either way. I still think you'll find a lot of people forget this, as opposed to Browny's.

His goal on the run at 50m out was simply awesome. You could see when he had space to run into he looked up to goal and slotted it through. He absolutely drilled it through hard and low. I thought when he had the space running in, "he's going to kick this."

Absolutely a fantastic captain's goal. :thumbsu:
