how long would Rogers and Ponting have spent together?

anyway, it isn't that surprising because it's been rumoured that Moody couldn't wait to see the back of him when he left WA

Whether you like it or not, personality issues have been probably his major issue. I know from a number of people that Rogers although is a good bat, does cause personality issues in terms of the team, in particular the hierachy at the highest level. He proabably won't be coming back into the side unless he sorts out this.

I think the main sticking point is through what Rogers claims Hilditch told him, if Rogers personality was the issue why then was he told it was his lack of runs that was? Surely everyone isn't as precious to become emo when a selector says "look, you're just screwing the team dynamics because you talk too goddamn much about crap!" As it is, if Rogers is to be believed that is, he was only told to make more runs and averaged 67 & 71 thus filling the quota, if anyone asked him during that time for the way to crack the Aussie side he would not mention anything about team harmony or being an upstanding bloke.

Yep, and this is not teh only coach/captain that has felt "uneasy" about having Rogers in the dressing room. It is a shame as he is a fantastic batsman, but sometimes being annoying, etc off the field will be held against you. Frankly, I was surprised when he made his debut as he was well known to being ordinary off the field.

I've heard repeatedly that Rogers isn't the best bloke in the World; primarily from guys involved in WA Cricket.

That being said, if that's the case, just tell him, "Chris, you're a gun bat, but you're a w***er, pull your head in and start making an effort and you'll have a better chance."

Especially considering he's yet another player who claims to have had either irrelevant, incomplete, incorrect or non-existent feedback from the current selection panel.

Between him, Noffke, Krezja. Hodge, Bracken and Beau Casson, you'd think they'd learn sooner or later.

Having played with and against Buck Rogers, he is an absolute prick who rates himself beyond normal levels.

Virtually threatens to kill you after you have a dig at him, doesnt socialise with players after the match and had no respect for officials at Club level.

Great bat, shit bloke.

Exactly what I have heard, and not just from WA cricket either. Has a reputation dating back to when he made his first class debut, and over in the UK as well. Gun bat but an awful bloke to have around the side.

I dont care if Ponting does not like so and so if they making runs and doing it constantly they need a shot.Gee so we lose the ashes cos Ponting does not like someone.I love Punter but gee if thats the case he needs to get his hand off it and realise that not always you are goin to best mates but as long as we are winning who cares.Rodgers should get another shot get rid of Hussey he has done nothing for so long.

All well and good but if you have to be around the guys you don't like for 5 days in a row, it tires you out mentally. Rogers may deserve another shot although he is probably behind 3 openers- Katich, Hughes, and Watson. Hussey bats in the middle order, Rogers won't be replacing a middle order bat. Hussey doing nothing is better than Rogers destroying the team dynamics.:thumbsu:

Drafting a guy in whose a total w***er, when these guys spend months away at a time living together, is a terrible idea.

Good article on our crap Selection Panel here though;

simple. if he blows hilditch like watto does he'll be opening the bowling before you know it, nevermind the batting.

why does he question the logic of including watson, when watto averaged 48 in the ashes with 3 half centuries from 5 innings? I'd say that is one of the few decisions they got right. he had a chance and he failed twice and as a result we lost our first test for ages.

Because it was a massive gamble which eventuated because of the unbalanced nature of the squad from day one.

Watto has clearly taken the opportunity with both hands, and good on him, but to not take a backup specialist batsman on tour (after not doing it in South Africa, where Punter stated it wasn't his decision and he considered it a mistake) is bloody stupid.

still don't see what rogers is sooking about though
a) it was a gamble sure but it paid off, i think they were justified in picking watson over rogers.
b) if they were gonna take another specialist batsman surely it would have been jacques or maybe klinger not rogers.

i wouldn't quite say forgotten, jaques is more forgotten on here i reckon.

the last 12 months has seen rogers go down in the pecking order as he's now 32 and with the emergence of hughes.

Let us be honest... as much as I think Hilditch & Co are cretins when it comes to selection, cleary Punter gets who he wants on most occasions. The Selectors can hardly come out and say, "Yes, Hodge & Rogers should be in the team on form, but they are shit blokes and Punter doesn't want them so we've picked someone else."

Katich is the classic example and spent a few years on the scrap heap until the wives were forced to patch up their feud.

Rogers is looking for an answer he will never get.

Just a pity that as a Victorian we now have had four (okay I know Rogers is an import) quality bats that have had their careers shortened due to personality issues;

Deano
Matt Elliot
Brad Hodge
Rogers

;)

if we picked players on whether they were good blokes mcgill wouldn't have played a test.:p

watson was a success in england but he's beginning to be found out now. i'd have rogers before him anyday.

And I would have Klinger, Hughes or Jacques in front of Rogers. Rogers will never play another test match for Australia, just cant see it ever happening, and his age (32), plus being a tosser, doesnt help his cause.

Why the hell we are playing a bloke who cant convert a 50 into a 100 if his life depended on it when we have another bloke averaging near 70 over a 3 season period astounds me. The Aus cricket team are all grown men, im sure they can deal with a bloke refusing to have a drink with them. just stay out of his way. im sure his not the only shit bloke to play for Aus. International Cricket is about the team that scores the most runs, not about sitting around in a hot tub, telling each other how much u love each other. I dont see how Rogers being a shit bloke affects the amount of runs the other batsmen get, how the bowlers do or the form of the keeper. You have to pick your best team.

Found out? Did I miss all those Tests we played since the Ashes? :confused:
