I'd look at playing this kid ahead of Byrnes or Stokes next season. He's extremely talented, rips it up at reserve level but lacks physical development and his conditioning keeps him out of the first team. With a big preseason and a few kg's of muscle this kid could be a star I reckon.

Kid does play well, just needs to put a bit more on the frame and also work on his fitness. If he does that over pre season he'll push Stokes and I reckon will eventually have him out of the team.

In their role? Allen had a great debut year and showed plenty to suggest that he'll eventually make it but i hope his opportunity comes as a true midfielder rather than playing as a small forward simply because of his stature.

He's got good goal sense but he's a pure midfielder and his best work is done around stoppages so if and when he gets his fitness base up i can see him getting his chance in the midfield with the occasional forward stint (rather than the other way around).

While I agree with you I think he'll have to settle for a forwad spot for next year, he's a long way off fitness wise and I don't think he can make it up in one preseason.

I agree...he's a good extractor and can also get away from the contest, but by his own admission he doesn't have the fitness base for AFL yet, down the track he might be a midfielder for us but if he gets games in 2011 it'll be in Stokes's spot.

I reckon Collingwood killed the small forward this year

Everyone who is not a key position player should be able to play midfield and forward, run hard and chase and tackle.

Therefore it's curtains for players like Stokes and Byrnes

Kid has a sensational pedigree. Cant believe we got him where we did in the draft. Dads 2 brothers played for the Cats in the 80's. (Who could forget Marty Christensen) and mum is a Rioli/Long from Darwin. The parents met when the old man was playing footy up there. Personally, having watched him closely, I reckon he is delicious...;) will be a star.

Must... restrain... from.. commenting... on... Christensen.

Haha! Come on, you know you want to....:p
