Multiplat Cities: Skylines

I wish they had natural disasters and that fires would spread to neighbouring areas. Looks like road tunnels are going to be in the content update by Collosal Order.

There are mods being made for them. Ive found a Tsunami one and a Fire Spreading mod so far.

This game is such a time-sucker. It's hard to put down because there is always something more that you want to do.

I also love all the little things, like:

- The buses and trains are coloured differently for different lines, making it very easy to see what's going on
- Every individual person and train etc is actually completely modelled. They really do need to get from A to B, unlike Sim City where they would just randomly teleport because the game was so shit.
- Someone has already modded an Aussie Rules oval and a cricket oval.

this game is on the EB games pre-order list... are people downloading off stream or something?
Yes the game was released on Steam worldwide March 10th. Not to mention mod support is superb through the Steam Workshop.

Looks like they are only selling the deluxe edition to be released April 14th.

I'm curious though if you buy the game from EB and it has a steam code in it? If there is an install, then what do they use to verify and implement DRM? My guess is steam is a requirement either way so buying a hard copy is, well, pointless (unless you have capped internet usage).

This day and age, PC games are going the digital path.

Yeah you'll effectively just be buying a CD key and saving yourself the download time, which isn't always negligible with shitty Australian internet (funny, as I say that there is an ad on BF for 250 Mbit/s in my local region...sorry guys)

Skylines isn't a big game, so the download time really is negligible unless you are on some sloooow ass net. Steam actually gives good speeds (unlike the putrid speeds being given by PSN)

Downloaded this game last night and it has been frustrating me how much it lags and how slow its running, searched the web this morning to find out any fix. Found out that the game only recognises the integrated graphics so I had to go to my NIVID control panel and change the setting for the game in there, but even after doing that the game still runs slow especially when I have to use the mouse for the camera because it takes me where I don't want it too due to the lagging. even changing the settings to the lowest quality in game does nothing.

I don't think its my graphics card even though its about three years old (GeForce 210) I have other games like the SIMS 4 running perfectly for example.
Its a shame really because the game looks good from what i've played.

Any suggestions what I should do? or if I do need a new graphics card any recommendations?

If its a GeForce 210...Well, yeah.

Check out this site for some comparisons:

The minimum requirements to run the game state a Nvidia Gtx260 or equivalent. Recommended is GTX660, I have a GTX550ti and it runs fine for me so far with a big city. Upgrading would be the best option for you otherwise reduce the in game graphics to low-medium setting.

So which one will you recommend that isn't to expensive and will run pretty good? note I don't play much PC games only the odd simulation types, football mangers etc..

Any AMD or NVIDIA card above the $100 mark should be more than enough for those sorts of games.

Whats your Price range? And do you know if you have the PCI-Express 3.0 slot on your computer?

That's a pretty shitty GPU so I'd certainly upgrade, but have you got the resolution cranked to the lowest as well? It's not a very demanding game.

yeah just tried it on the lowest resolution which is 1280X720 its a little bit better but still runs slow, I guess my best option is to upgrade my graphics card.

My price range will be around no more then $150-$160, not sure if I have a PCI express 3.0 have to check, I brought the computer early 2012.

You should have 3.0 then, 2.0 at a stretch. MSY is the cheapest place to get good quality cards.

$105 for a 2G GT 740 Asus DDR3, which compared to your 210:

To put it simply, the GT740 is benchmarked at a 749% increase in performance over the 210. The comparisons speak for themselves.

thanks for that mate i'll give them a call

cheers!

The game is actually very well optimised. I am running on my Macbook Retina laptop so hardly a gaming beast, but it runs fine. Also, I have found that my 100k city runs just as well as it did when I started.
