Multiplat Civilization 6

An update I would like to see is for it to actually load my save files. I stopped playing several weeks ago because I was playing as Maori on a huge map and the save file wouldn't work. I thought it was just a once off and continued, but half the save files I did on this setting wouldn't work.

are you playing on console?

I had the same issue on ps4 with a huge map

Stop saving the file son your console and save them on the cloud, the files on the cloud don't corrupt but the save files on your console seem to corrupt around turn 300

I see this is free on Epic Games until May 28th. Surely there is some catch to this? I've heard quite a few people bagging out Epic but unsure what for.

They just launched a "season pass" with new features being launched over the next few months, so they'd be hoping people get the free game and eventually buy that.

Epic cops flak because they were bought by a dodgy Chinese company, so everyone suddenly became outraged over it. They also threw money at people to get exclusive rights to games, which triggered people even more.

The Epic app is also pretty shit, but so was Steam when it first started, but that would be before the time of most of the kids sooking over it.

Anyone play much on deity?

What's the play?

Seems like spitting out a heap of slingers when they are cheap production wise, upgrade to archers, focus on gold and then upgrade again to crossbowman as quickly as possible and going on a romp is the only way?

I lucked out and stole two settlers from other civs and I'm still miles behind China. They are busy fighting everyone else at the moment but their cities are on my border and sooner or later they will head my way. I'm not strong enough to take them when all their cities already have encampments. The production bonus of the AI is pretty crazy.

I only played Diety for the achievement. I played as Nubia, stole a settler or two early and produced as many of Nubias unique archer units ad possible early (I think I had 4 or 5). Declared war on another Civ and got as much experience into them as possible to get the two attack per turn promotion.

With 4 or 5 of Nubias unique archer unit with the two turn promotion I managed to take a couple of the enemies capitals before the AI started putting walls up. By then my empire expanded quickly early enough that despite it being on Diety I was unstoppable.

A couple of points:
- I did that on the Vanilla version (I.e not the gathering storm or other expansions apart from the Nubia and Australia DLC). With the gathering storm there are more consciences by being a warmonger. Eg you can lose cities by lack of loyalty or cause 'grievances'.
- Doing this tactic it is important to take the enemy cities/capital before the walls. Once walls are up it is a lot harder to take cities with just archer units.
- play with epic or marathon time limit. You want the opponents ancient/classic period to last as long as possible. You will want to have the advantage of your unique unit as long as possible and to take down a few cities before walls are up as mentioned before.

Well they came at me and I just held out, turned the tables to go on the offensive after wiping out all their land units and they have planes. There is that save done. I'm miles away from that.
Planes are basically unstoppable in civ 6

I got this the other day when it was free on Epic.
Haven't actually installed it yet but not really playing anything else at the moment so might fire it up.
Are the expansions etc worth it? They're like 50 bucks on Epic so not keen to drop that unless they are really worth it

The expansion adds more standard features to the game like additional civizations to plays, natural wonders, man made wonders etc. It also changes the game play quite a bit and affect the strategy you play.

For example, in the Vanilla version it is clear if you expand far and quickly you have a massive advantage. With the gathering storm DLC you can lose cities if you expand close to another Civ due to lack of 'loyalty'. As a result it forces a player to balance expanding their empire and building up their existing cities population before finding a new city. Diplomacy is also more important with the Gathering storm DLC as well.

If this is worth it or not it depends on how much you like the Vanilla version. If you don't like the Vanilla version or think "It's a good game but I can't see myself spending too much time on it", then it wouldn't be worth it. If you like it and find yourself playing it all the time and wanting it to get more in-depth on the diplomacy and expanding cities side of things then it may be worth it.

This is another game I've enjoyed in the past only to be disappointed.
The AI is..... well its..... er.... ammmm....the AI is!

Played a few games to start with, building fortress capitals well I reacquainted myself with Civ, but I never felt any threat what so ever from the AI and so after a few days and very disappointing games I started a game on maximum difficulty to test the AI, I built my city turn one and did nothing more except destroy my one warrior.
Guess what happened, nothing for over 2500 turns.
The AI Civs have a cry, declare war, send a unit or 2 as sacrificial offerings and that's it.
At one stage, for a few hundred turns I had a city state siege my capitol, bringing it's health to 0 and inviting invasion from other Civs, nothing came of it.

This is a multiplayer online game only, wish I had know that before wasting 80 odd GB downloading.
