Reviews on ps4 are super positive- metacritic 88/10 and IGN 9.4/10

******* pumped that a good version of this has come across to the consoles
The switch port was pretty well done (without expansions til now) so I expect the console to be pretty spot on

my only main gripe with this is thatis was promoted as including the expansions which it doesn't.

They are an extra $60

Even though I got this on the PC I think I will get it on the PS4.

The big problem with the PC version I have is that it seems to go through periods where it doesn't start up, but if I wait a week or two the problem fixes itself and it starts up okay. Not sure if it's because of the PC or the game that causes it. It think it may have something to do with trying to read the files in the folders.

At least with PS4 I wouldn't have to worry about that.

I'll be curious to see if there are any major differences between the pc & ps versions from someone who has played both

After playing the PS4 version over the last week it is effectively the same game.

However, while you can do the same commands and such, the PC interface is easier to use. With the PC version it gives you information more easily and effectively. You can access the same information on the PS4 version, but you have to go through more menus, or find the appropriate buttons to push. Pretty much the PC interface is easier to use.

I have also notice a glitch in the PS4 version that doesn't appear in the PC version. It's to do do with linking units together. I tend to play as the Aztecs as my favourite Civ. I camp outside another civ and pinch their settler when they are have one. I pinch the settler, then I notice a wounded warrior on the next tile. I unlock the eagle warrior from the settler before I attack knowing that the warrior unit will become a worker unit. When I attack, the settler unit is still linked which meant I missed out on obtaining a worker unit.

If I had t o chose one over the other it depends. I have the trouble starting the PC version sometimes, but I'm not sure if it's to do with the game or my computer. I have not had any trouble loading the PS4 version.

However, I found the PC version nerface easier to use, but not by a massive margin that it would detract massively from the experience.

If I had to give a score.
PC version 88/100.
PS4 version 83/100.

so as someone who hadnt played 6 until the ps4 release but had pumped hundreds, closer to thousands of hours on the pc into civ 3-5 the huge map seems small.

Is it the case? or since it has been years since i have played tge game do i remember huge maps being bigger than they actually are?

V vs VI

Duel: 40x25 44x26
Tiny: 56x36 60x38
Small: 66x42 74x46
Standard: 80x52 84x54
Large: 104x64 96x60
Huge: 128x80 106x66

So yes, maps also feel even smaller because of the larger tundra bands in VI

It's a bit off topic, but related to map size. What I noticed from Civ 5 compared to Civ 6 is Civ 6 puts a limit on the amount of Civilizations you can have depending on map size. In Civ 5 you can do something ridiculous like having 20 Civs on a dual map. Civ 6 puts a limit of 4 or 5 on a dual map now.

Colin Moriarty from kinda funny was raving in about this so I picked it up as part of the steam sale, have to say it’s pretty fun.

I think it will take me a while to get used to the mechanics, may have to play the tutorial again.

Once you get a better understanding of the game, it sucks you in. One night you will start a game, look up and realise it's dawn.

One more turn.

Accidentally played for three hours again this morning haha

The Germans proposed we attack the Romans, so I did. To bad the Germans never showed up and I spent an hour and a half holding them back from taking my capital haha!

I find if you plan on taking cities it is better to do it earlier in the game than later. Early in the game (ancient era) you pretty much can take a city with three archers and a malee unit.

Once the other civs get to the classical/medival era the other Civs seem to make it priority to build walls which makes things a lot more difficult, especially if they also build encampment district. When that happens you need more than ranged units and need to also start building battering rams, mobile towers, siege units to be able to take a city. Though you may still get away with ranged units if you are a couple of eras ahead if the other Civ.

**** this shit

Cant progress as I only have one wildcard policy and I need 2 to progress.

Restarted an earlier save and still ended up stuck

Year 2001 and 422 turns in. FML

Does that say you're getting 91 culture per turn too? How is it possible to not have unlocked a heap of Civics by now?

Can you not put policies from other sections in as wildcards? This must be a lot different to the PC version.

You should be able to change the policy tab to see other types of policy, like military and diplomacy and so forth, right? On the wildcard tab at the top, just click left or right arrow

You should have more than 6 policies if symphonies are unlocked already

You could in the PC version :S
I never had trouble applying other types to the wild card slot in the PS4 version. I'm also not sure how someone can be that far in th er game and only have one wildcard as an option.

It sounds like it may be a glitch. I have found some small glitches with the PS4 version from time to time.

The only where I had to start my game again was when I was a bit too quick moving my units. I moved a unit into a tile when the other unit was in the middle of attacking. Because the unit attacking wasn't victorious but still alive I had two units on the same tile and couldn't move them.

the strange thing is i had 5 wildcard options and then for some reason they disappeared and i had 1. It wouldnt allow me to move anything else into the 2nd wildcard option.

I went back about 15 turns and had the same thing happen again but this time i could move other cards to the wildcard option.

So it was obviously some kind of glitch
