I’m interested in this game, what’s the difficulty like
Most of the difficulty for me came around how good I am at dodging and parrying enemy attacks as getting it right can make a massive difference both attacking and defensively, especially parrying.

I'm not very good at parrying in games so I've got it on the medium difficulty, but you can lower it even further and it becomes pretty easy. Expert would be great for somebody who is good at parrying and make for a tough challenge.

Thanks for that sounds good, think I’ll pick it up

I downloaded it and have played roughly 1hr, still unsure on it, the main thing is the combat, just never been into turn based games, although at least in this one it lets you dodge/parry when it’s not your turn.

Storyline is definitely intriguing though.

I don't like it, after playing Infinite Wealth and Metaphor last year, this one just feels lacking, it's basically a JRPG watered down for the west. It's another game that adopts a lot of Dark souls elements but in turn based, as if we need another one of those

I'm guessing the rave reviews are because a western company are making it instead of those weird Japanese

Fantastic game. About 4/5 hours in and loving almost everything about it.

Is it too easy? I’m on normal mode and barely taking a scratch in most battles. Does it get harder?

Where have you been lately? The last 12 months the gamers have been all about deifying the east and demonizing the west...

For what it's worth I love both games you've mentioned and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with this so far.

This game shaves off most the stuff that makes a JRPG what it is, added in Dark Souls elements and called it a day (flags are bonfires, weapon scaling off two stats is just Dark Souls, upgrading weapons with different smithing stones up to 3 levels, flasks system, etc). I don't wanna see anymore bloody Soulslikes, there are too many already, now it's infecting the turn based genre

Plus it's more of a rhythm game than an actual JRPG when it comes to the combat, it's about hitting the braindead QTEs and the parries, they even have the enemies attack in that annoying Elden Ring delay, which makes it feel like a nuisance if anything.

Playing on expert, it's basically just like playing a Souls game, you die a few times to learn the attack patterns, then you parry them and kill them. This isn't what I want out of a JRPG, it's very much taking out the traditional elements, add in popular stuff from other popular games and make it sellable to a western audience. It's the palworld of JRPGs

Really couldn't disagree more to be honest... it's a modern JRPG in every sense of the word (as nebulously defined as it is, the Souls games are also Japanese RPGs).

Sounds like you have an issue with the active elements of combat, but that's nothing new. Shit, Infinite Wealth has plenty of that...

Saying Dark Souls is JRPG shows that the term just means absolutely nothing. JRPG has always been some damning with faint praise term that people use to describe turn based RPGs coming out of Japan like FF and Dragon Quest, Dark Souls have never counted in that bracket, it's an action RPG. Otherwise Monster Hunter is a JRPG which is ridiculous

Nope, I have an issue with the lack of actual RPG mechanics, it's purely just a rhythm game, hit your QTEs, hit your parries. Infinite Wealth has an actual job system and other stuff

Honestly the game is just about what I expect from a first time dev, it has flawed ideas but it's decent enough, even if it is the opposite of what I want from the genre, but people glazing it like it's the 2nd coming of Christ is just ridiculous.
