Toast Clancee Pearce 100 Games

Clancee Pearce is another of the more maligned players on this board as of late. Well unless Ross pulls a selection surprise, the Fish Pub should be celebrating his 100th game this weekend against the Tigers.

Certainly not the most skilled player out there on the park, nobody can dispute his courage and hunger for the ball.

Clancee will be the 36th Freo player (and the first with Indian heritage) to reach the 100 game milestone, and will now be added to the "Son Watch" for future father-son picks.

Go Clancee!

Clancee will also be the first player wearing the #46 to reach 100 games. Only 2 goals off the most goals in the number 46 as well...
It is a shame that Blicavs has come along and taken his mantle as best ever number 46 and will probably break both of Clancees records in the next 5 or so years.

They were always good stats to pull out about Clancee

BT likes this

I've always liked Clancee too. He hasn't been great in recent times but I've always liked his long bomb goals from outside 50. My fave memory is probably when he kicked a long bomb in the EF against Geelong early in the second quarter to put us 40 odd points up and BT went nuts. Unfortunately he was not wearing the white shorts that day.

I honestly believe as a midfielder he can be elite. Huge kick, huge ass (difficult to move) and tidy disposal. 2013 his best year (and our best year) he was a midfielder / HBF averaging 20+ disposals a game.

Played at bit in the centre on the weekend and did OK. Certainly a good hard body to have in there, but never thought he'd be fast enough to play that role. Looks like RTB is going to give him a bit more of a go there this year, so will be interesting to see how he does.

A bit optimistic there, he doesn't have the attributes to be elite (height/pace/skills) but he'd have made, perhaps, a good B-grade mid IMO prior to this year, back when Lyon's gameplan reined supreme.

The game, the way it is developing, with its emphasis on pace and skill, really doesn't suit him. He may have missed his chance.

He is elite in his own way , just like Palmer for GWS.

Is he the first 'Clancee' to reach 100?
Well done to him though.

He's the first Clancee or Clancy to reach 100 AFL games.

Tom Clancy played 93 games for South Melbourne, Carlton & Collingwood around WWI
Peter Clancy played 19 games for St Kilda after WWII
Jack Clancy played for the Uni Blacks in the VAFA and 1 game for Fitzroy in 1957 - apparently as 20th man and didn't take the field!
Ashley Clancy was drafted by Freo in the 1999 Rookie Draft, elevated to the senior list the next year, but couldn't crack an AFL game. Played 31 WAFL games for Subi and South
Phil Clancy played 33 games for South and West Perth in the early 90s.
James Clancy played 1 game for Swans in 1931

But the winning Clancies are Clancy Rudeforth, 170 games for Claremont in the 2000s (rookie listed twice by the other mob, but no AFL games) and Clancy Wheeler, 105 games for Subi and still going.

So lets all raise a glass, and congratulate Clancee on reaching the big 100

Well done.

Elite is a big call, but certainly a quality player he can be. Those who just blindly put him in the 'spud basket' really don't have clue and/or have short memories. His 2013 was very good and then injury's of one kind or another hit and he never really made it back to that sort of consistency - but he's got lots of good attributes and there's no reason he can't bring them to an AFL field for another 100 games.

On ya Clancee :thumbsu:
