News just in, Clancee has been elevated on to the senior list this morning. I've always been a big fan of him, though was disappointed to see the very promising start to his career come undone last year. Based on his solid preseason form, he's now likely to play Round 1.

Great to see the kick up the 'Ben Cousins cargo hold' worked well. Hopefully Sonny can continue on his way and be another to turn it around.

I'm not sure that Clancee qualifies as a 'mid tier player' yet. Looks like he'll play on Saturday though. Only 4hrs to wait.

I congratulate pearce for his elevation, he has worked hard and has earned it.... i still dont think there is a place for him in our squad if we are to be successful going forward, but he has done well so far.

We want players with good positive hardworking attitudes to their football e.g Barlow, Sandi etc. I think Pearce has the potential to be a bit better than just an honest journeyman that a few people see him as. Time will tell of course but nice to see reward for effort at this stage. :thumbsu:

There isn't a place in our squad for a consistent performer at WAFL level, a solid contributor at AFL level - going off recent pre-season form - and a hard working, disciplined contributor on the training track?

No-one. Unless they had to choose I think they should have waited.

Clancee couldn't have played until they elevated him. They obviously need him this weekend.

No one else on the rookie list is ready for elevation yet which is a shame, as I was hoping that Sam Menegola would have showed a bit in the pre-season.

Sam Menegola didn't get much of a chance during NAB cup which made it hard for him to show his true ability, same with some of the other rookies. Spurr got a good go and so did Clancee. I think Clancee is needed this week however will he get a gig when we have Mundy, Barlow and Lower back in the team.

Not too sure :confused::confused:

oh there is, but i think as we build depth, clancee will find it harder and harder to justify his spot on the list, i dont think he has the ability to be a good consistent player at afl level, and so will be delisted sooner rather than later... he might hang on for another couple of seasons

He justifies his spot now, which is the main thing. If long down the track he gets pushed out with our depth developing well, then great, that's a good thing. How ever I don't see this happening as likely as you do.

fair enough thats your opinion. When mundy, lower and morabito come back i would think pearce would be the first on the chopping block. we shall see

You may be right. But he's only 21 years old and has only played 26 games. I reckon there's an outside chance he could lift his game to another level. To me, he often seems unsure/spooked/nervous when he has the ball in hand. His decision making can be suspect at times and he goes backwards too often. If he starts attacking and taking the game on, I think his foot skills may become a bit more of a weapon. I reckon that all he needs is confidence. There's potential in this kid, he just needs to attack!

Interestingly his career avarage disposals, Marks, Goals and tackles are almost identical to Nic Suban's. I think Clancee has Suban's spot this week, we'll see if he can keep it.

He just needs to thump his chest a bit more and clap his hands before Freo run through the banner and he'll be the next Luke Hodge.

I'm stoked with this, always been a massive Clancee fan. Dominates WAFL when he plays there and always gives a good contribution at AFL level, looking forward to seeing him wreaking havok on the Cats.

Teams released at about 4 as usual?

Congratulations Clancee, a very well deserved elevation to the main list. Looking forward to you putting a lot of pressure on the main list and midfielders for the 20121 season. :D:thumbsu:

Don't think he will be on our list still for the 20121 season....

Typical Freo supporter mentality: player must be extremely talented to have an impact at AFL level.

There are plenty of players at other clubs that make it through sheer hard work, commitment and determination. There is no reason why Clancee, at 21 years of age, cannot be a regular fixture at AFL level.

If we had never seen him before this preseason (like Barlow in 2010), we would be raving about how good he has been.

Some players mature earlier; some mature later. Those that are already writing him off are probably the same ones that wrote off Mundy several times while he was in his early 20's. I'm not saying he will make it but writing him off now is ridiculous.
