Well, I suspect that are trying to figure out who has been leaking these details (one or more?) so that they can fix the mess in one hit. After getting that leadership sorted, they next have to speak with the players to make sure they are clear about what changes are being made and able to ask their questions. The leaker(s), obviously close to Clarkson, is creating a faction in the club that has to excised today. There's going to be some looking people in the eyes moments and some big decisions getting made. Richie is working overtime.

And if it turns out that it isn't a Clarkson faction which is undermining all this but actually a Mitchell faction which has been actively white-anting Clarkson and the whole succession commitment, well then we're truly ****ed.

Not nearly as doom as gloom as some are suggesting. The media can have their feeding frenzy and their fun, just got to hope the players don't buy into it too much.

Sam Mitchell doing his apprenticeship at West Coast has already been revealed as a pretty bad idea. His interview with Whateley is the sort of thing you can get away with as an Eagles man in WA. Not in Melbourne. Showed his naivety to what he's in for. Needs to adjust very quickly.

There are a number of leakers and they are coming from playing group, board level and football department (according to Caro, Tom Morris, McClure)

It's not a matter of flushing out a mole, it's about healing the club from within, and better governance.

We’ve gone from not leaking a word of this to the media when it happened due to Silk’s 400. Now the media has all the info before the hawks have released anything.

The club needs to find the leaker(s) badly. We’ve gone from nothing to a lot. Clearly people(s) are very unhappy with what’s going on and taking it out on the club. And that’s the best case scenario.

Coming from the board? So the board voted unanimously to end Clarkson's tenure and also unanimously to appoint Mitchell but some on the board, despite their vote, chose to undermine that vote?

For that to be true then either Kennett lied about the unanimous nature of the votes or a board member is unwilling to voice his concerns in the board room but willing to voice them to reporters anonymously. If a board member disagreed with this course of action then they had the opportunity to voice that position. If enough disagreed then they could have stopped it.

Coaching problems are the least of Hawthorn's worries in that scenario, no matter what the truth is.

Wow - are you sure you are not on the current board ? Something about pride coming before a fall. Well played Clarkson - gets the money ( more money you are handing out - thanks), and a rest for a while. Feel sorry for Mitchell honestly, as he is one a hiding to nothing.

The part that baffles me the most is the 20 minutes for Clarko and Sammy to work out an arrangement. 20 minutes to delegate tasks for the day at an accountant firm sure but that time to figure how they are going to steer a footy club for 18 months - one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever heard.

It all felt so rushed and frantic from the get go. Sammy’s a Hawthorn man, surely he would have been fine to work the details out over the next month or so rather than jumping at the Pies’ offer?
