Nonetheless if he enters next year without a contract do we throw the chequebook at him?

If Pyke cant get it done this year do we wonder about what else is out there?

Not a kneejerk reaction to last night and I quite like Pyke (rhymes for days) but I just wonder what we think about looking at who is coming out of contract in the next year or 2.

Pyke is going nowhere, doing a great job getting us into a semi final and the best team of the year (except lose the GF)
Astute tactician who has done excellent thus far
Whoever replaced Walsh was potentially on a hiding to nothing “What if Walshy was here comments” and comparisons
Pykes made this team his own and we’re lucky to have him! Remember how many wanted Worsfold 2009 called Woosha they want thier game style back

Pyke is great. But Clarkson is immortal in the footy world and the question was if Pyke didnt deliver the goods in our window would we get in someone like Clarko if we could?

Discussing a change of coach who has only recently taken us to a grand final is very premature.

It would not be an agenda item at our board meetings... but I hope our fitness & conditioning staff are being discussed.

Ps. No issue with starting threads, but if they are silly expect others to point this out.

Right here, right now Pyke is going nowhere. Noone is suggesting its on the table because in all likelihood he re-signs with Hawthorn. Or as other suggest chase money at a real shit club.

All im asking is if 12-18 months from now he is available and Pyke hasnt got us a flag, do we get really restless and ruthless (like throwing 2 1sts for a 30yo Gibbs) and go for a god coach like Clarko.

Its more a discussion of the ruthlessness of our board and club than it is about Pyke.

History says probably not but how much might we regret wasting this window?

If Pyke continues to support his decade long assistants then he can pack his bags. You're only as good as the people around you. If he doesn't realise that, then he's a moron. We won 2 flags off the back of a genius walking in and enacting immediate cultural change. Pyke walked in and fundamentally embraced Neil Craig's failed system. He needs to wake up. Coaches are important, systems less so.

But Pyke needs to have the balls to tell the club he needs new assistants. Campo and Clarke have had a good run. To go to the next level under Pyke I think we need something new. Perhaps, a couple of assistants that haven't been out of the game so long.
