The argument of climate change deniers falls to bits when it comes up against the reality of insurance companies now refusing to insure more and more properties at any cost, due to the dramatically increasing risk of loss caused by climate change.

Could it be that more people live in high risk areas?

Not denying climate change, but here is an example.

Ipswich has seen huge population growth and now more than 50% of residents ilive in the known Ipswich flood plain.

Insurers not providing insurance is pretty sensible.

That's a bit ****ed up.

I reckon 2022 was a bit of an outlier tho, even with climate change. Would have flooded anyway most likely but that volcano probably kicked things along a bit. So maybe some parts of those new suburbs could be insured.

Probably won't matter if ww3 starts anyway.

Odds are the place gets nuked then.

How many one in a hundred year floods do you need in a decade to just maybe think there’s something to it…..

That's what they were calling them at the time.

Altho its an inaccurate description. A One in 100 or 1000 year flood refers to the odds of that flood happening in any year.

A one in a hundred year flood actually has a one percent chance of happening any year. One in a thousand is a 0.1% chance etc etc.

A factor, but a minor one.

Insurance industry press releases are never Insurance Industry Calls On Local Government To Stop Approvals in High Risk Areas.

They are always Insurance Industry Says Climate Change Is Rendering More And More Properties Uninsurable.
