We don't have a game structure anymore. You're fine. :)

Touche.... though I would still be worried about an 80 meter player getting the ball anywhere forward of the back end of the centre square with you blokes.

In terms of Young...he is played typically as a wingman...not run off half back. With Birchall and Suckling, they haven't really needed him in this role.

I think his role would be similar at Collingwood, although he may be required to take kick-ins as well. May be required on a back flank as well.

Whats your normal kick in strategy Dave? You would not want Youngy doing it unless it is kick to yourself and then bang it down the line to the wing.

Totally different player to Wellingham.

Wellingham is an inside/outside burst player. Tougher tackler, better inside game and able to break a game open in congestion. Can also play defensive jobs, marks well over head and good at reading the ball off hands. However doesn't necessarily penetrate by foot and is not a 4 quarter performer. He works in bursts. Can have terribly quiet weeks and often his work-rate drops off.

Young is a pure outside runner. Those saying he plays half back flank are wrong. He is a wingman and a goal-kicker on the run. Has the potential to play half back though and I'm sure the club would consider using him in this role. Terrificly skilled, able to pinpoint targets and kick long goals. Breaks the lines and runs 4 quarters up and down. Pretty good big game player. However, he has no inside game, only average at tackling, won't defend an opponent very well and has had a bad run of injuries over the past few years.

Really completely different players altogether.

I'd say we have a greater need for Young considering we have the inside players and guys like Swan, Beams, Sidebottom and Pendlebury play inside/outside. I think Wellingham offers something different to all of them because of his ability to step around players in close. I also think Wellingham is the better all round player...but as I said Young will probably add more to our side.

Young would help us with Delivery into the Forward 50

Not very reliable that page at all.

However, The Age did report this morning that Pies officials did give him a tour last night of the facilities.

or one who knows nothing about the subject they are commenting on. He plays on the wing, not the HBF. As for him being soft as butter, he definitely addressed that this year. Much harder at the ball and man. Prior to that he was purely outside and did not like getting his hands dirty.

My worry if I was chasing young would not be his "pea" heart or him being soft, it would be (the same as my worries about us keeping him)-
a. Durability - Has missed the majority of 2009 / 2010 with injury and 2011 with injury and resultant poor form.
b. He is NOT a pinpoint long kicker as some think he is or as the stats sheets point to. The stats somewhat lie about Youngy. He gets many long bombs into the F50 or 50 meters forward that are not to advatage and get repelled back quicker than you can say boo. Unfortunately the way DE% works, they often get counted as an effective disposal.

He is not an overall pea heart or soft as butter though

No good trying to sell him to me, I'm not in the recruiting department.

unfortunately that has pretty much been our strategy this year. Just get it 65 metres away from goal and hope for the best.

We need someone who can pinpoint a 30-40 metre kick through a zone which then allows us to get the next kick over the top of the zone.

Not sure how reliable a kick Young is over this distance, but I do know he is a beautiful kick over distance.

Dylan Roberton is firming to come back to Victoria, with Collingwood believed to be his preference.

Collingwood have offered pick 3, which at this stage Fremantle look willing to accept.
this came in a few mins ago, ....dont no who this guy is though

He has a very long and penetrating kick over distance but his precision over distance leaves a bit to be desired. His kicks travel very quickly, not always to advantage though. His kicking over shorter (30 - 40 meters) seem to be inconsistant. Some are awesome and some are very average. I think the average ones are not skill errors but more decision errors. Unfortunately at 27 I don't know if that will improve anymore than it has already. Quality run and carry type player with a long, sometimes wayward left foot.

You are only seeing him as wayward because you are comparing him to Suckling, Birchall, Guerra, Burgoyne etc. :p

If this is going to happen, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens tomorrow now that Wellingham is gone and we definitely can afford to pay him something. Wait and see. If it doesn't happen tomorrow, I doubt it will ever happen.

That's just my opinion.

Well It could be Tommorow as know we have bit of Money with Sharron Gone

I will be shattered if we do not get Young after all these reports sounding like we are so close

Will be a great get hope it happens tomorrow
