Toast Clinton Young

This. PLus also young was able to seriously release all that pressure in our defensive 50 using his long kicks.THe best of all was the fact that he absolutely cleaned chappy with a very nice bump, gotta love the way he played today.
Maybe... regarding the kicking we'll agree to disagree....
Loved the bump and his want and need to go for it for the team, he was hard at it, gut ran and worked hard... I'm wasn't a fan of his game today, against smarter teams we'll get absolutely chopped up on the rebound because of the lack of thought with forward movement.

I get on Maxwell when he does it, I get on Harry when he does it - Young is in the same basket for mine. Doesn't offer Maxwells chop out and doesn't offer Harry's run and carry...

Again I liked his endevour and showed a lot of character today.... but I am not satisfied with his kicking or decision making

If he does nothing else I will forever remember and love his clean shirt front on chapman.
I know he'll get a week, but that was a thing of beauty, if you want to legally hurt an opponent that's how it's done.
It's good to know he has a little junk yard dog in his makeup, this team is seriously starting to get a bit more physically intimidating and I for one love the idea.

Yes indeed an absolute cracking shirt front.... Loved the shot of him on the bench looking dazed and wondering where that Mack truck come from.

that was young releasing all his frustration from the hawthorn losses against geelong on chapman.

Who should replace him?

Who should replace him?
there'll be two outs most likely: Fasolo and Young... so whoever plays well in the VFL. Adams, Dwyer, Kennedy would be front runners for Young's spot.. not sure about fASOLO'S

Wow im surprised at a toast - - I'm on the absolute opposite, if watching replay you can find 3 of his 13 kicks that actually go to a man or go to advantage then the toast might be deserved, butchered it with every kick and didnt lower his eyes at all... got a free and a fifty and still managed to try to kick it fifty.

Good endevour, great hit on Chapman, but his kicking was poor - really poor

N.B someone has to be the bad news Barrett... today its me

A little bit harsh. Generally I'm not getting the Young love on this board but I thought he was ok today and probably his best game for us.

However I agree that he still missed a lot of targets and kicked his long raking ball when there were options a plenty if he had of lowered his eyes.

even if he is not injured seriously, i still dont want to take a risk with him next week. Give him a week of to absolutely make sure his leg is okay and then bring him back for the game against adelaide
Guess it depends on the health of other guys in the seconds - Couldnt have picked a worst time to have gotten injured (of the next say 4 weeks), but I'm thinking if he's injured he'll get rested and the replacement wont be a like for like (maybe Kennedy)

but given the teams we are playing in the next few weeks, we can risk not playing young.

Yeah I know, so maybe for Young its a good time to get injured because whoever replaces him will have a different skill set, so when he's healthy again it'll mean he's not competing on an even playing field to return to the team (the team might want a tall winger with a long kick as a part of structures, will however end up with a short player with pace - Kennedy or inside player - Adams... so would replace them when he's fit again, without form concerns) -

Maybe thats a position Karnezis might come in at? (dont know his game a hell of a lot, but seems to be similar stature and player type to young)

you raise really good points there. Regarding karnezis, from watching all available tapes of him he does not have the same penetration in his kicking like young does. he does have some silky like movements. But how he fits into our team will be very interesting.

If he gets done for that then its a bloody disgrace.
It was a disgrace when they allowed Daren Glass to walk away with 1 match ban for shirtfronting a bloke in a marking contest and sending him to hospital. The MRP is a f****** lottery.

Yes. The physicality of our side as a whole is becoming first class. It's the sign of a side that'll do everything it takes to get the win.

zieball got 4 weeks for this

You'd think Young would be worth at least a week based on that though who really knows what they're doing :(

There is a sub plot seeming to emerge here in that we are becoming a much more physically intimidating team, now considering we have the depth to cover a sojourn or two for some players courtesy of the mrp it occurs to me that we can make a statement or two NOW during the season that will have some teams second guessing themselves regarding the hard ball get that is the hallmark of finals footy.

you do have a point...but kicking for distance and clearing zones still has value. And that was still a very good game from Young.. best so far for the club before he got injured.
