Can someone from the club straighten him up in front of goals? He is one of the worst HOOK foots in the game.. when he's up the ground its fairly safe but what is going on in front of goals?

His kicking for goal reminds me alot of Tarrants.. and look what happened to him.. although Tarrant is playing well as a defender now, maybe Cloke could be useful down there for us in the future... Just a thought..

Do you think its nerves?
Do you think he could be improved with some help?
I just feel if he was to run directly at the goals instead of running around in an arc (slighty to the left) he could improve and kick straighter.

I am beginning to lose patience with his kicking... Either get it right, or move to CHB. We can move other players into the key forward post like N Brown / Reid / Dawes.

You cannot continue to have the team work so hard to get a shot inside 50 and miss from directly in front from 30 out.

I don't think it is nerves, his action is terrible...

i was lined up behind him yesterday when he was 25m out and missed, he's body was facing towards the point post and his ball drop was horrible...

I don't see why he doesnt practise it more and get it sorted out...

He's just hopeless when it comes to kicking goals and it's starting to wear thin. I would be more confident if Dawes had a shot at goal at least when the pressure is on he nails the goals (done it twice against adelaide)

The only thing I can think of is that he doesn't work hard enough.

Nobody can play as a forward for 5 years, practise hard enough and work hard enough and be missing from 30 metres out for often than not.

Next year he plays VFL till the problem is fixed. Then he can come into the seniors imo. Tell the **** enough is enough.

Stole my thunder Frankie, from my observations his ball drop is the main issue and he lifts his head far too early through the kick throwing off the mechanics of his kick.
Clokey needs to Get DVD of Lockett, the best kick i have seen and just watch the fluency and stillness in the Torso and head when Lockett kicks at goal.
Kicking at goal is not dissimilar to a Golf Drive and though most have a different style the fudementals stay the same and i have no doubt with Cloke its not nerves but a severe technique flaw.

With Lindsay Gilbee talking last week about how his dad was a pretty good kick and taught him how to kick, I took great notice of how freaking bad David Clokes kicking technique was when I watched a replay of the 1980 GF.

If his dad taught him how to kick it would explain a lot!

I really can't figure this out.

In round 19, you can clearly hear Malcolm Blight say that he watched Collingwood warm up (in Adelaide) and that the difference between Jack's kicking and Travis' kicking can be summed up as;

* Travis wonders in and doesnt hold the ball still as he is walking or when he drops the ball.

* Jack on the other hand, doesnt move the ball at all while walking in, holding it still and straight then guiding it onto his boot straight in line with the goals.

Bloody hell, a blind man (no offence to anyone here who's blind) could tell a forward to hold the ball still while walking in and then guide it onto his boot, it is plain common sense, which all the Cloke's clearly lack.

LOL.

Pretty confusing I can imagine.
"Smally" is the name given to Cloke's pet miniature horse by Old Spice.
please note smally may not (most definitely isnt) his actual miniature horse's name

I've noticed this with Travis. His hands can go from outside his right leg, then swing across to outside his left leg. Its pot luck if it lands on his foot anywhere near right.

Don't think there would be too many of them in an internet chat room matty :>

He drops his left shoulder therefore leans to one side.

Furthermore, I have not seen him kick through the ball when closer than 30m out from goal

Get ready for a September IMPACT from Cloke.

Got a good feeling he will stand up when needed most be it in front of goal, contested marking, or around the ground.
