We'd like to congratulate Eddie Betts for winning our leading goal scorer award with 42 goals (23 games), just beating Jeff Garlett at the end (39 goals):

Eddie is our first non-Fevola to win the award since 2002. Can anyone remember who won the award in that year?

Well done Eddie, had a great first half to the year but let himself down in the latter part. It's a step in the right direction for young Eddie (still only 23) and I look forward to him building on that next year.

On a side note, get every single player into that gym program that Eddie, Hoops and Walks had to do in the pre season. Seems quite obvious to me.

It's astonishing that Garlett, younger and much less experinced than Eddie, has kicked just 3 less goals from 3 less games, averaging nearly .15 more goals a game than Eddie.

He will be very special (more than he is so now).

Or alternatively they peak too soon and finish the season poorly. I'd never really thought about it until i read your post but those 3 all got off to a flyer and finished terribly. Most likely unrelated but just putting it out there.

Fair point, but I am always of the view that a tough pre season where a player pushes themselves to the limit is only a good thing. Obviously a fitness staff need to manage the lengths that they go so they don't burn out but these sessions are great for fitness. Having someone there to push some of the players known to be 'lazy' can only be good for them.
