Let me put it to you like this, comparing the prime minister situation to us having co-captains is laughable. They are so totally different.

The prime-minister would be comparable to the coach (as they make tough decisions). The captain does not make any decisions, you do realise this, yeah?

Neither does the Prime Minister.

I thought that you might need it seeing as you work in Lara. Or should I say upper Corio.:p

That must be why i cant spell anymore, all you public school w***ers are bringing down my private school education. Im a mere mortal, an everyday Corio scumbag now. How sad. :(

Please learn politics, Trav. The PM is really nothing more than the leader of a pack who all have an even vote. The anarchy surrounding her is so bad because all it does is de-stabilise the party when she really does next to nothing in regard to passing laws.

While I'm not particularly enamoured with the idea of co-captains, given the obvious failure of an individual captain at MFC in 2011 we obvioulsy need something to change going into 2012. Unfortunately our next generation of leaders are too inexperienced to captain Melbourne, I have no doubt with another 40 odd games Trengove and Grimes will both be ready to lead but right now they haven't played enough footy.

My choice for captains are Jones and Trengove jointly. I'm not certain why Jones seems to get so little mention here, not an outstanding player but is certainly relaible. Seems to have a great on field presence and most importantly clearly puts in 100% all the time unlike the 2011 captain.

Nath could be a good choice - he's just not STANDOUT - I think that's why he's being overlooked.

You have to admit, getting the Carbon Tax through was a pretty massive one though.

I think it should Moloney as captain.

Rivers as VC for the backline.
Green as VC for the forwards.

Then in the future I'd expect to see Trengove, Watts and Frawley as respective captains - most likely with Trengove as Captain and the other two as VC.

That's the problem we has when we went with Vossy/ Lynchy and it worked for us

Like I said it should come down to the group you have rather than the idea of hating co-captains.

If it can/ will work go for it!

Nathan jones should be the favorite , the only bloke out there in 2011 who have his all and repeatedly is one of the best trainers at the club, compare jonesy with Sylvia in terms of natural ability vs effort an desire , it's between him an moloney for mine

'jtren9 The definition of inspiration has been replaced by two words. Jim Stynes. Your work as president of the MFC will never be forgotten! Thanks'

Good call by Trengove on twitter last night. Clearly his heart is at melbfc, I hope he's named captain at least jointly.

Trengove is in just his third season and is too young and inexperienced to be made captain.

Jones is a bit of a battler and I don't think he would be mentally capable of leading the team and ensuring his own form remains at a high standard.

I think Moloney is the obvious choice for us.

Agree that Moloney should get the gig, but just because Trengove is young doesn't mean he should be discounted. I know one player who believes he should be named skipper

I like the idea of Moloney as Captain and Trengove as VC.

Or both as Co-Captains with Moloney the vocal on-field leader and Trengove the media guy.

They're the only two options that I really feel safe with as far as consistent output, passion, leadership and professionalism.

The Moloney story last year sounded like a whole lot of nothing to me, so I don't include that as a negative against him.

Was confirmed he didn't urinate anywhere he shouldn't have, only that he had too many drinks. He drinks maybe three times a year. Give A F&^*

I'm just not a fan of giving the captaincy to very young players in general. Nothing against Jack personally. But it's a huge responsibilty and I don't think it's fair to place that pressure on a kid.

3AW says on twitter that MFC is to make an announcement at 1:30 this arvo, and obviously speculate that it's a captaincy thing. Would be strange so soon after saying we'd announce it just before the NAB.

I for one think it will be about a major sponsor.

Major announcement at 1:30 PM today, announced on Facebook by Melbourne FC.
