Gilly walked and was deemed the ultimate hero, yet every game he appealed for dismissal he knows are not out .

I think drs has shown its simply bullshit that every player knows when they have hit anyway, some are happy to walk off when given out and snicko shows no edge others hit the cover off it and review genuinely not knowing they nicked.

Maybe you're not sure if its bat or pad first, but you know if you've hit it and been caught.

You don't though, warner recently walked and didnt review when he didnt edge it and had been given out.

Joe root is notorious for reviewing thin edges where the pad is nowhere near the bat, some always know some don't and drs has exposed that.

I can't remember a batsman blowing a review on an outside edge.

I remembered this one from a few summers back

massive deflection off the bat, review from the batsmen as he was sure he didnt hit it, the players dont always know all the time some just dont seem as aware as others.

That is 'usually' the case, agree. But if this comment is an extension referring to the Langer edging to 1st slip incident, please note the ball actually came off the middle of his withdrawing bat, not an edge.
I remember the incident well and my mates and I were in it fits of laughter, with one commenting - if there had been no slips and ball had gone for 4 runs would the umpire then of signaled byes..?
None of us could believe Langer stood his ground, but as stated later he genuinely didn't think or feel he hit the ball and was accordingly surprised it went to 1st slip, but after watching the replay he conceded the ball clearly deflected off his bat! - regardless, it was simply deplorable umpiring...!!!

Mark Taylor even commented at the time, if you're withdrawing your bat in the same direction as the ball, it's conceivable you may not feel any deflection..!

The eyes of the cricket public will be firmly fixed upon how the team performs from herein. A slip in form, and all hell will break loose. The thing that worries me is some of these "senior players" of which he speaks are rapidly reaching the end of their careers.

I suspect Langer may have looked the likes of Warner, Lyon, etc in the eye and suggested their spots were up for grabs. I think this because of Cummins' comment about sticking up for his team mates. A curious comment that IMHO needs further examination.

The coach is only 1 selector though? You have Bailey as well, I think the comment was purely that players didn't want him anymore coaching, I think there's was a truce 12 months ago where Langer, the players and the board agreed to let him see out his contract, then they start winning and Langer tries to use it as leverage to get an extension

My take of the whole fiasco
Cummings is captain
But underneath Smith and Warner run the show
Just my opinion
If that is the case, then look out Australian cricket... again.
As one sports commentator from WA said yesterday on radio. All is good now because of the results of late. Wait until things go bad and see who get the chop.
90% of the present Aussie team was was involved in the South African debacle.

Pat's an alpha male, I can't imagine he'd take too much into what Warner says. Smith he'd look to for some guidance
alpha male you reckon? He seems like a good boy 'Yes man', who lacks any meaningful thoughts of his own. That's why I believe his role in the Langer sniping is being over-exaggerated- he was just pleasing the mob

But from the past debacle, it seemed that Warner was the prime mover. Smith knew something was amiss, but did nothing.
I would find it hard to find solace in taking notice of either.
Obviously Pat was that big an Alpha male, that he had to use a knife to remove the other Alpha male that set Australia back on the right footing.
Maybe Pat didn't like being told what to do.

He was pleasing CA, no one else. He did what CA told him they wanted.

You're not the best fast bowler in the world being a yes man, he's proven with Khawaja gesture he's capable of being his own man and lead his way

yes I'm sure last year CA was delighted to hear that their star coach needed urgent remediation works and that they needed to two hire two assistant coaches - a year after a disgraceful mass cull of workers at CA - as part of that process, thereby creating an inevitable process where said star coach would be all but destined to not receive a contract extension of any value, meaning that said star coach, who was also the most beloved team-mate during the golden age period, would leave the job in circumstances that many would not be able to quite understand

a great plan from Cricket Australia, something they surely wanted to do

“I know from close contacts in the England journalistic world that Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, and Andrew McDonald were caught having conversations in a pub in Hobart. That conversation was heard by two or three British journalists.

“My advice to Pat Cummins would be, if you’re going to have strong conversations about the potential removal of your Australian cricket coach, who was in position at the time, don’t do it at a pub. Do not do it in a public domain where you may get heard.

“That’s how all these stories started. It was quite clear that they wanted Justin Langer out, and evident they were talking about the likes of Trevor Bayliss, Michael Di Venuto and Andrew McDonald, who was in that conversation as well.

This doesn't paint Andrew McDonald in a good light along with the players

Perhaps - but this is just 3rd hand whispers and innuendo at best..? Most people know JL's papers were stamped (for certain) when he publicly defended Paine's resignation with comments that were not at all favourable to his employer, including his emotional retort at the media.

Accordingly, related discussions thereafter, involving who and where, were/are mainly irrelevant to a story the media won't let die, simply because none of the current players are publicly acknowledging the media's ongoing 'JL mutiny' narrative...
